Man's extended arm causes flight diversion
Man's extended arm causes flight diversion

BOSTON, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A Scottish man who disrupted an international flight by refusing to move his cast-encased arm has to keep the limb extended, his U.S. lawyer says.

Attorney Audrey Marinelli told the East Boston District Court in a hearing Tuesday that U.S. Airways passenger John Murray refused requests from a flight attendant move his arm out of the way of a cart for health reasons, the Boston Herald reported.

The 49-year-old man was arrested and charged with interfering with a flight crew Monday after the Philadelphia-to-London flight he was aboard was diverted to Boston's Logan Airport due to the disagreement, authorities said.

Marinelli said Murray, who maintains a U.S. residence in Jacksonville, Fla., had requested a window seat because he lost a thumb and index finger and injured his arm a serious motorcycle accident. But he was instead seated on the aisle where it blocked the flight attendant's cart, the newspaper said.

1. Customer service
The customer is always right arrested. One less reason to fly.

2. He couldn't stand up and pivot a little to let the cart pass?

That would have been easy for him to do.

8. He was probably just pissed that he didn't get a window seat
So he just kept his arm extended into the aisle.

LOL. Hilarious.

3. Poor guy. Fractures hurt, and
sometimes there are only a couple of positions that are bearable. For example, if you don't keep it elevated most of the time, it hurts like a ****** ******.

6. I always book a window seat, so had I been in that row,
I'd have instantly changed seats with this man. I have to wonder why the window seat person in that row didn't do that. The problem would have been solved instantly. Stupid people.
