Poll question: Would your Congressperson do what Leo Ryan did?
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 10:09 AM by BlueIris
Let's assume the answer to this question is significant to you. (I really don't want to read replies here like "I don't care," or "I don't care because cults are a-okay with me.")

You're imprisoned in a cult way far away. Would your Congressperson head out there to try and get you back? Can you even picture your representative doing that?

My old Congresswoman, sure--in a heartbeat. She was a tough lady who worked her guts out for her constituents and was very protective of them. The new guy who replaced her last year? Not sure. (Which makes me sad.)

1. I doubt it especially after what happened to Ryan.

2. Ryan did the right thing, but in the wrong way. I'd like to think my rep would do something...
But pretty sure he, or any other rep, would go about it differently.

So, yes or no depending upon whether you mean "do something" or "do that exactly".

Jerry McNerney is my representative, a good guy who replaced one of the worst, Richard "sell the National Parks" Pombo.

:patriot:

3. Diana DeGette (D) would tackle the problem, though in a more
cautious way, I'm sure--given the history... I credit her with having the guts to stand up and fight for what needed to be done, however.

9. I know what you mean though.
That kind of direct representation is very rare these days.
