Revealing Pic of Moonie Times Editor who claims Obama doesn't know what America "is about"
Washington Times editor emeritus Wesley Pruden: "It's no fault of the president that he has no natural instinct or blood impulse for what the America of "the 57 states" is about. He was sired by a Kenyan father, born to a mother attracted to men of the Third World and reared by grandparents in Hawaii, a paradise far from the American mainstream."

Here is a rather revealing photo showing Pruden's true allegiance.

19. Suck on some facts, Little Miss Sunshine.
Look at the 250 year history of capitalism and tell me it's eternal.

Look at it today and tell me it works, and will work.

Look at the 150 year history of socialism and tell me it doesn't work and won't work.

Look at the 100 year history of communism holding state power (an oxymoron) and tell me how that is communism.

Before you cheerlead capitalism, count the human destruction and tell me why you do.

Please tell me why, LMS, so I can point out exacctly it is sucking you.

10. I REALLY want to use that photo!
But can anyone here help me establish that it's "genuine"? By that, I mean NOT Photo-Shopped, and/or that rather indistinct photo IS actually Wesley Pruden.

13. It was taken at Arlington Cemetery and he isn't pledging allegiance. He's showing respect.
Which is more than anyone around here can manage, obviously.

17. Thanks. I'll keep that photo in abeyance, pending further info.
But is there a reasonable explanation for that Confederate (battle?) flag? I have no problem with people honoring their fallen ancestors, in NON-official ceremonies. That would seem to be in accord with Lincoln's wishes. But in Arlington National Cemetary?

23. I was born and raised in Louisiana
My ancestors fought and died for the Confederacy, I have ancestors that more than likely owned slaves. The Confederate flag represents the shameful history of slavery and racism in our country. Honor the dead if you wish, but respect the Confederate flag? Tell an African American who grew up in Louisiana or South Carolina to respect the Confederate flag.

14. You should look a little deeper
In 1998, Pruden, whose newspaper is the only major daily in America that runs a weekly page about a war that ended 138 years ago, spoke to the United Daughters of the Confederacy at the Manassas Battlefield Park. He began by making the kind of promise most editors avoid at any cost: "I will never fail to respond to you when you call on me for help, because I believe in what you are doing to cherish and protect and preserve the heritage of our great Southern people."

Concluding with a flourish, Pruden said "Southerners ... hold loyalty to two countries in our hearts." The second country is one "baptized 137 years ago on this very field in the blood of First Manassas, a country no longer at the mercy of the vicissitudes in the tangled affairs of men, a country that lives within us, a country that will endure for as long as men and women know love. ... God bless America, God bless the Confederate States of America, and God bless you all."

7. Who I think doesn't know what America is about
are these right wing religious nuts. They don't know what it is to feel compassion for their fellow man. Jesus did he proved it on the cross. They don't know what it is to give the working class a helping hand. FDR did it and saved our nation.

Tell me seriously what in the hell, other than cause dissent, corruption and greed have the republicans done for this country.

... and the Washington Times apparently dedicated considerable space on Saturdays to stories about the Civil War.

Of course he is. They always are.
Not all Civil War buffs from the South are racists, but it seems like all the racists are Civil War buffs.

21. That's ridiculous.
Some of the biggest racists I have ever known were Filipino and Hawaiian Americans, and they didn't give a rat's ass about the Civil War.

I was referring to the good ol' boy racists.
For some reason that lot seem absolutely obsessed with the civil war.

25. What's remarkable is that Moonie Times is still quoted by "legitimate"
media, even after articles & facts like this come to light.

Oh, the Big Media realignment is going to be such fun.

29. What's remarkable is that this thread is all about a picture that has nothing to do with the issue.
ie Pruden's claim that Obama's father being a foreigner and his mother's alleged fetish for third world men combined with his having been raised in the somewhat less than American environments of Hawaiian and Mercer islands have generated a lack of attachment between the President and the country.

Which is a really funny claim when you consider that some of the darlings of the right wing are actual foreigners and immigrants who have much less cultural connection to America than President Obama does.

Owned by Sun Myung Moon, a Korean who doesn't speak a word of English. There's a REAL American if ever I saw one.
