Kinda crazy here, and this euthansia story from Mike is geting tough. It's so difficult to try to explain to a child. When my father was still alive, he came over and stayed with the boys when I had to take one of ours. The boys as young as they were offered an older baby quilt, and I brought her home wrapped in that quilt and when the mr. got home we buried her.

I stay with the kitties when they are sedated, then I leave. I just can't handle watching the last breath. :cry:

36. We were there for both Cosmo and Willie. It was so hard, but I needed to be with them.

Both times, the vets were extremely sensitive and gave us as much time as we needed before and after.

43. The first cat that the mr. and I 'owned' had renal failure,

and that was YEARS ago. I was pregnant with the youngest when I had to take her in.

Nosy, when he was here, and HAC refused to eat canned cat food they wanted the dry crunchy stuff. Nosy enjoyed table food and they had a can of tuna in their stockings Christmas morning, and he would relish it that day then be done with it, HAC won't eat it at all. It's really difficult to know what to feed cats anymore...just hope for the best I guess.

over the years and lots of research, now I know that wet is better. But you just never know. The poisoned food from China did not help at all and I have a feeling animals are still dying from it. Some places never even took it off their shelves. Bastards.

is read the label. if you see a lot of by products at the beginning, it's probably not the best quality.

what really upsets me know is all the GM corn and wheat that goes into pet food, along with road kill and other dead animals. I want to scream and throw things. About all you can do is fight back with your $$$ and by better food. And some people just can't afford to do that. It is a quandary isn't it.

Renal failure is a horrible thing to watch them go through. We lost one of ours to renal failure and it was heartbreaking to see. Our guy wasn't that old though, he was just about to turn 7.

39. it's so difficult with pets , oh man , my little story

When I met Judy in 1980 she missed her cat so I found a kitten for $10 and tort shell she named her India .

India lived 18 years but one day Judy was calling me at work telling me hwo India seemed in a fog. When I got home on a very hot aug night I saw the same thing. I gave India her fav treat kraft waped american cheese and she ate it and seemed ok but I could feel something so I took India out of the front porth on our unstairs apt laid her on a towel and she meowed one lst time and laid down while I sat down next to her and Judy next to me and kept my hand on India and said it's ok India , it's ok to go and I love you . minutes later she went .

They both died at home the other two we took in and that injection thing was horrifying to me , so fast and so heavy. They all died in a 4 year period all were past 15.

We had to have 2 of our kitties put down. Willie was 20, Cosmo was only 7. Both times it was heartbreaking.

We lost 4 we had at the same time within 4 years. We have two now that are near 10 and 13. I was in a fog when India went , I sat down that night and wrote a poem for her. I still think about all of them .
