Raw Story: Palin says yes to 2012 presidential run, ‘if the people will have me’
Palin says yes to 2012 presidential run, ‘if the people will have me’

Sarah Palin dropped a heavy hint Tuesday that she might seek to run for the White House in 2012 as champion of America's Republican right.

Speaking to ABC television's Barbara Walters, the former running mate in John McCain's failed 2008 presidential bid gave every appearance of releasing a trial balloon.

"That certainly isn't on my radar screen right now, but when you consider some of the ordinary-turning-into-extraordinary events that have happened in my life, I am not one to predict what will happen in a few years," she said.

She stated her desire was to "help our country." Then, asked if she would play a "major" role in the 2012 presidential election, she answered: "If the people will have me, I will."

1. Maybe I am the only one not worried about her.
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 08:27 PM by Shell Beau
I honestly don't think the people will have her. Some other person will pop up that we (us dems) will need to be more concerned with. I think many people see her as a joke. And I don't think most republicans will vote for a female anyway, so the people who would have her back don't want a woman in charge. At least that is my opinion. She is done. She can go on hunting and doing whatever it is that she does.

4. Sometimes I agree with you, other times I think about 'W" and "Reagan"
On the otherhand, even if we remember the 2000 campaign, W was able to portray himself as rational and moderate. I don't think Palin can control herself like that. She has a real self-control issue - always being extreme and over the top in all her responses.

6. I'm with you. She can't come out abd say she's not running or her book sales would suffer.
Sarah is out to make buck while she's hot, period. Can't really blame her for that. But her approvals are at 27%. No one wants her except the fringe. She has zero appeal to the middle. I keep posting the same thing, so I'll stop repeating myself. But, trust me, the GOP is almost as against her as we are. They want a malleable puppet who brings the party together (think Reagan, GHWB and W), not a hardheaded venom-spitter who fractures the party and can't be controlled.

Let het have her day in the sun because, believe me, this is her finest hour right here right now.

12. We were not worried about Bush but coporate America put their
money behind him because they saw in him a puppet they could use..They could pull strings and get exactly what they wanted and that is exactly what happen..other candidates could not compete with his warchest..
And then for 8 years it was political payback..he didnt win in 2000 the election was bought ...he didnt win in 2004 the election was stolen or bought...and again the corporations had their puppet..Palin could fit the same criteria as Bush. The corporations could see her as another puppet..so should we take her serious??
One doesnt have to be intelligent to win the Republican nomination.

13. I agree, but she isn't the ticket.
They will end up putting their money up for a man. Someone will come up to be a big ticket for the republicans. It won't be her. She is already tarnished. Plus she is a she. They want a man. I think that is the truth. Of course this is just my opinion, but she will not be the president. Ever.

14. I don't think she really wants it anyway.
She wants to earn as much money and adulation as she can with the least amount of work possible. Presidentin' is not the way to do that.

Next I'll see her face on my corn flakes.
Can't we export her or something?
ETA I am also sick of the dumbing way down of the political process that she represents.

8. Continuing to have children after the last one would be newsworthy
for sure, but not very positive I would guess.

10. Well that does it. If that crazy bitch is going to run for president
then, hell, I might as well throw my silly ass hat into the ring too - but only if Drunken Irishman will be my running mate. If we're going to throw the presidency to a loon, then we might as well make it loons all around. If nothing else, the campaigns should provide lots of comic relief before the country goes straight to hell.

16. OPERATION PALIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 10:46 PM by RoadRage
I posted this the night Obama won the election last year on 11/04/08.. and I'm not backing down yet. Let's do it.. Run Sarah Run!

OPERATION PALIN:

1. Thank Rush Limbaugh for the Idea known as "Operation Chaos"

2. As Obama runs un-opposed in 2012, Democrats cross over and vote for Palin in the 2012 Primary

3. More "Qualified" candidates like Newt, Jeb, Mitt, Mike & Bobby don't win the nomination

4. Republicans turn 180 degrees and explain how having no experience and quitting your job is actually a GOOD THING

5. Enjoy the debates between Obama & Palin in October, 2012

6. Obama beats Palin by at least 8 points and is President until 2016!
