dick cheney weighs in on President Obama's bow....guess what?
he don't like it

Dick Cheney calls Barack Obama's bow to Japanese Emperor 'a sign of weakness'

Former vice-president Dick Cheney is attacking Barack Obama again, this time for the U.S. President’s bow to the Japanese Emperor.

When Obama met Emperor Akihito at the weekend pictures show he did a deep, from the waist bow — a sign of respect according to Japanese experts.

However, critics say it disgraces America, especially as the Emperor is the son of Japan’s wartime Emperor Hirohito.

heney told POLITICO.com, “There is no reason for an American president to bow to anyone. Our friends and allies don’t expect it, and our enemies see it as a sign of weakness.”

However, as the New York Daily News and others have pointed out, Republican president Richard Nixon bowed in 1971 to Akihito's father, Emperor Hirohito — who ruled Japan during the Second World War. True, Nixon's bow wasn't as deep as Obama's but was a bow nonetheless.

1. The one where he sits.

2. The one he talks through.

:puke:

I guess Bush kissing and holding hands was so much less a sign of weakness. :eyes: Shut up, Dick.

7. Not to mention the years of sucking up to the Saudis
I don't really care so much about the greetings, but the Saudis had free reign during Bush's presidency. The ties between his family and the Saudis before he was installed as president were concerning and their kowtowing throughout the 8 years of the administration was ridiculous. President Obama showing respect for the cultural greetings is nothing compared to the bullshit that Bush pulled with the Saudis.

10. Politico was talking to Mr. Cheney?
Did they ask him about the recent reports that Cheney ordered government records pertaining to September 11, 2001 changed to conform to the Bush Administration's version rather than reality? Oh, I'm sure that nobody at Politico would have the bad taste to ask him about that, but it's fun to imagine such a thing happening isn't it?

14. Actually a sign of strength. You must first have respect for
yourself and know you are not diminished by the show of respect to another. Not possible for Cheney. But Cheney should NOT respect himself, he is after all, a draft dodger, not because of a conscience but because of cowardice.

Cheney and his ilk are why the rest of the world have such a low opinion of America......rightly so. It will take years of decent, honorable, leadership for America to earn the respect of other nations. Refraining from interfering in their internal politics, not violating their sovereignty, respecting their traditions and ideas is a start. Now, if the President would find a way out of his two wars, we would be much further down the road to recovery.
