15 best places for green jobs.
And the best part.. Community colleges are where to get the training for these new jobs..

Get a green job in two years
Community colleges are at the forefront when it comes to training for eco-economy careers.
http://money.cnn.com/2009/11/16/news/economy/community_colleges_green_jobs.fortune/index.htm?cnn=yes

and the place to find the jobs when you have graduated

http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/26/news/economy/green.jobs.fortune/index.htm?postversion=2009102605

And while most observers expect a boom, clean energy employment already rose by 9.1% between 1998 and 2007, the Pew report found, versus 3.7% growth for all jobs during the same period.

So where are all these green jobs? The Clean Edge study lists 15 metropolitan areas that are "current hotbeds of clean-tech job activity," based on the number of existing green jobs, the amount of green investing going on, and clean-tech employers' growth projections. (You'll notice that your hometown is No. 14 on the list, so you may choose not to move at all.) The top 15 right now:

1. San Francisco -- Oakland -- San Jose, CA

2. Los Angeles -- Riverside -- Orange County, CA

3. New York -- Northern New Jersey -- Long Island, NY, NJ, CT, PA

4. Boston -- Worcester -- Lawrence -- Lowell -- Brockton, MA, NH

5. Washington -- Baltimore, DC, MD, VA, WV

6. Denver-Boulder-Greeley, CO

7. Seattle -- Tacoma -- Bremerton, WA

8. Portland -- Salem, OR

9. Chicago -- Gary -- Kenosha, Il, IN, WI

10. Sacramento -- Yolo County, CA

11. San Diego, CA

12. Austin -- San Marcos, TX

13. Phoenix, AZ

14. Detroit -- Ann Arbor, MI

15. Houston -- Galveston -- Brazoria, TX

3. Iowa is not on that list, but we are number 2 in wind generation
and they are needing people who can assemble and maintain the turbines.. I just stumbled over those articles, and it was just the thing we were talking about at our local community college a couple of weeks ago.. WE NEED PEOPLE who can do these jobs

4. Until they're outsourced, too, of course.
No one's told me yet how that will be prevented.

;)... but we have to get our act together and take advantage of this.. China is leading us in production, but we can do it better, and cheaper.. those things are monsters to transport..

9. Well, I'm thinking those who
create Green Jobs are going to be more responsible since they're thinking about our Planet and our country so they'll stay here.

We're going to see, aren't we?

12. If a windmill can be maintained by a cheaper H1B, then that's who will get the job.
"How may I be helping you maintain your windmill today?"
