1) get a photobucket account. it's free.
2)upload pics from whatever source you have (ie your own computer, or a web page <right click on the photo and copy the "properties " >
3)copy and paste the "direct link" on the DU post.

4. I'll take this opportunity to advise against the practice of 'hot-linking'
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 02:13 PM by Cirque du So-What
That's where you copy'n'paste a link directly to an image, taking a bit of bandwidth away from the server that is hosting the pic. By itself, one photo won't eat much, but if hundreds of people hot-link, it can cause problems for the host server. Much better to copy the image onto your own account on one of the free image-hosting sites and link to the image from there; those servers are set up to handle it.

Some webmasters take quite a dim view of people who link to photos on their site. Sometimes, they will change the properties of the image so that instead of the photo you linked to originally, you'll get an image that says something to the effect of 'I AM A BANDWIDTH THIEF!'. If they're particularly cantankerous, they'll change the link so that an image of really gnarly porn or GOATSE or TUBGIRL takes its place. This can be embarrassing if you copy a picture of, say, people on horseback and paste it on your Facebook page with the title, 'SOMETHING WE LOVE TO DO!'

This has been a public service announcement.
