7. Poor, helpless, deformed inept leopard seal - I'll give him a flipper!
All I know is better him jumping into the Ross Sea than me.

I mean, it turned out quite interesting, but when he said it took his camera and head in its mouth, well, depends wouldn't be able to handle it....

18. True, but wild animals don't shop at Price Chopper or Stop & Shop
I find it interesting that we humans keep searching for intelligent life from other worlds, but we refuse to recognize it here on Earth. True, seals don't have our brain power, but the actions of this leopard seal probably would be no different than our ancient ancestors may have had towards strangers who needed their help. This leopard seal was able to test the intentions of an unknown intruder into its territory, gage that the man wasn't a threat to it and then, in its own way, try to help the man by offering it food.

14. Fostering another species is pretty common
and exists all over the place. That's one strategy for allowing neborn endangered species the best shot at survival, allowing another animal to foster them.

That's all mama leopard seal was doing, giving the poor human being baby a chance to learn how to survive in the wild.

And yes, it's beautiful.

28. Really neat story. Gotta feel bad for the penguins, though--just being
plucked one by one like potato chips from a bag, as if the seal was thinking, "How 'bout this one? No? Maybe this one. No? You might like THIS one, it's half-eaten..."

30. WOW! Imagine that! Time to get in the water, yah?
Yah! This is one brave man.

I wonder if this seal was so nurturing because she had lost her pup recently.

Wow, just wow! These seals can weigh up to more than 700 pounds!

Poor penguins. (Huge fan of the "March of the Penguins")
