Serious medical marijuana question:
Where exactly would you smoke it?

I'm reading stories about cigarette smoking bans that are extending to outdoor public places, multi-unit dwellings, etc.

Only in detached single-family dwellings? Do you get a smoking exemption for marijuana bar-type places? And how do you explain that to the cig smokers who can't smoke in "their" bars?

Flamesuit on, although I hope I've worded this well enough to avoid it.

3. as someone who has lightly smoked both, let me tell you that
marijuana smoke does not linger or stink the same way tobacco smoke does. I don't know if it's the amount or what, but tobacco smoke really is a lot more noxious smelling and stays in a room longer. I can smell if someone smoked cigarettes inside hours ago, but with pot it's not as noticeable for as long, imo.

4. If you're sick enough to need it
you're probably not going to be hanging out in bars.

My guess is that medical smokers would smoke at home and outdoors.

11. I would think so too
...but then there's that café in Portland. I can't imagine wanting to go out if I was sick, but there you go.

5. I've got a close buddy in his 60's who's using pot for his cancer
Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 03:50 PM by TheCowsCameHome
It gives him great relief. A couple of puffs and the nausea is gone.

He's got a jar on the coffee table and another in the kitchen, just like a candy dish would be.

He couldn't care less who comes through the front door, either.

7. I think it should be the same for pot as for cigarettes; in the privacy of one's own home or
outdoors, public spaces excepting areas like playgrounds.

8. "vaporizing, cooking & baking, making tinctures, sprays and extracts"
http://www.medicalmarijuana.ca/learning-center/using-marijuana

"Although smoking is thought to be the most common form of ingestion, there are many alternatives to smoking your daily marijuana supply. Some common, healthy alternatives to smoking are: vaporizing, cooking & baking, making tinctures, sprays and extracts."

-snip-

"The effects of smoking may bring on relief faster, but using other ingestion methods may ensure the relief comes on slower, is with you longer and affect you in a completely different way. It will generally affect your muscles, joints, and back in a more calming manner - it doesn't just go right to your head, it goes to the place in the body that needs the healing. By ingesting through teas or cookies for example you can give yourself controlled doses throughout the day to manage your pain levels."
