The Dwight D. Eisenhower Bowing Hour!
Hello there, Pope John XXIII!
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZEf6TUYdm_0/Sv9Su61hZqI/AAAAAAAAACA/LSberRcyG4g/s400/eisenhower+bow.jpg

Howdy to you, wife of Italian Prime Minister Giovanni Gronchi!

Hi again, Archbishop Iakovos of New York, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of North and South America!

Long time no see, Charles De Gaulle!

By their logic, I believe that last bow means we have all been French since 2 September 1959. Eisenhower clearly demonstrated by that bow that the American President is a subordinate of the French, which means that for the past 50 years America has been a French territory with pretensions of sovereignty. Mon Dieu!

6. Eisenhower, like most of the last few R presidents...
Was entirely too liberal in his leanings and doings.

:sarcasm:

12. Bizarro response to the link from my pet wingnut, formerly a local radio yakker
Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 03:47 PM by UTUSN
He no longer is a talkshow host, after about 30 yrs of yakking. But he has close contact with the station and two of its biggest pains-in-the-ears and insults-to-the-brain, referred to in my message as (1) and (2).

So I sent him the link to end-run the inevitable spiels today criticizing the bow, saying this:

This link contains pictures of EISENHOWER bowing to multiple potentates, and even "just" the wife of a prime minister---John XXIII (who deserved it), DEGAULLE, and lesser lights. Be sure to forward it to (1) and (2), who need to gaze on these pics before they bypass their brains with their mouths for hours today.

So he replied with THIS:

****************QUOTE***********

Subject: Re: for Wingnuts going nuttier over OBAMA's bow to the emperor

Just so you'll know, I don't have a problem with the Big O bowing as he did to the Emperor, although if this were a just world the present Emperor would be just the commoner son of the hanged war criminal Emperor Hirohito, hanged in downtown Tokyo for all to see. I think he overdid it with the King of S.A.. I think 'they' make too much of this.

Having said that, let me say this: I wonder if his bowing, which I read as an attempt to play to the world crowd, is also a symptom of his need to be loved, adored. this would make sense since his mother was a flake and his dad deserted him. to have one's father or mother desert one is the ultimate rejection. I think he needs to be loved and is also a megalomaniac. But that's just me. I see nothing wrong with the President of the US of A being polite, even overly polite, to world leaders. I guess that's why I'm not on the radio.

**************UNQUOTE************

To which I responded with THIS:

Wow, while faintly praising with a pseudo "defense" or non-critical facade, you managed to rachet up the slicer/dicer to slew the man down: "play to the world crowd...need to be loved/adored...mother flake...dad deserted...ultimate rejection...needs to be loved...megalomaniac...overly polite." Anything else?!

By the bye, how do needing to be loved and being overly polite square with being a megalomaniac?
