Note to MSNBC.com: Your top of page, expanding, flash ads are ANNOYING
They expand when you roll over them, like when you're going to your favorites menu, or the address bar, etc. Very, very bad.

They cause slow load times, even for me, and I'm on a very fast cable connection. They are slow to close when you click close.

ANNOYING! Do you want to keep visitors, or run them off? Because I've just changed my home page due to this annoying ad for City Center in Las Vegas. The Cadillac ads are just as bad.

1. Same with Yahoo. imdb does this as well.

I HATE Yahoo's new design, with even the slightest mouse bump causing those annoying side tabs to expand over the search dialog.

imdb.com seems to be wanting to push the new Johnny Scientology remake of "Pelham 123" on DVD. Can't search anything without that expanding Flash ad covering everything.

Well, that was an uneventful 12,000th post.

2. I e-mailed MSNBC about the new home page. It is annoying
and unattractive. Jars the eyes. I will be looking for a new home page.

This new MSNBC page also takes forever to load and I too have cable.

3. MSNBC may be gone this week, if GE sells to comcast. It may end Microsoft/NBC joint venture. n/t

5. I don't mind ads appearing. There are a lot of small, independent webmasters who depend on income
from ads to pay the bills. When you block them, you're cutting off their income. I don't like the pop ups, expanding roll overs, or the others that cover the page content, but the ones imbedded in the page are fine.

If we want free websites, we can't block their income. It pays the bills.

6. You can choose to selectively block specific ads
I'm new to using Adblock and Flashkiller so I can't tell you how to do that with those plugins. However, with the NoScript plugin, I can auto-block scripts and ads and then "turn on" the ads and scripts I want turned on.
