FOOD FIGHT... now here is a serious recommendation
for a descent restaurant didn't say spectacular.

One of my major gripes over the last few years (or is it decades?) is how things have gotten super-sized.

So the other day we went to Cocos for breakfast. Why? We needed a breakfast before a gaming tournament...

So to my shock and delight they actually had a NORMAL portion... like what I would do at home. If not a little larger, but not that spectacularly that larger ok.

One egg, sunny side up, one piece of Ham (I don't like bacon), about three Oz of fairly descent breakfast potatoes and a choice of biscuit\toast\ muffin, you know the drill.

Now THINK... given the HUGE portions we tend to see in restaurants, this one came done to, if memory serves, 320 Kcals... and 28 grams of carbs.

Apart of the fact that no I did not finish all the taters or the biscuit... THINK folks... because Restaurants may be coming back from that edge of HUGE meals... and at least a few are starting to offer the OPTION.

Of course it could also be the simple fact that under California Law they now have to post the calories... and I am guilty of that. I do not look at the pretty menu... I look at the calories and carbs before I order.

Oh and I did thank the manager for actually having something that is in the normal range of portions, not the OH MY GOD I am about to consume my whole calories in one sitting kind of a deal (not that I do that, but you know what I mean)

So if you happen to have one of those nearby... and you want to go out for food... they have now things that are in the normal range... and not in the Oh MY FREAKING GOD ARE YOU NUTS!!!!!!!!!!

1. I like the calorie posting thing honestly
that said, when going out I often - not always but typically - split something with a friend, my girlfriend, or eat the leftovers for lunch.

2. In cali this is law now
one of the good things Arnie has done... in fingers of one had.

And from talking to managers it has changed consumption patters. One manager at local mexican restaurant even said that customers no longer ordered sides of beans and rice as often as they used to. That said, waste is down.

Reasonable portions, reduced costs.

4. Oh absolutely, but even the senior menu
is getting up there. This was not part of the senior menu, but part of the regular menu.

That is why I thanked the manager... they need to hear it (and sell them) to make it worth keeping in menu.

Now they could work a little on their service, but that is another story...
