What Would You Have Asked Arne Duncan On MTP?
1. How can you be such an authority on teachers when you were never a teacher?

2. Why don't you give teachers input on solving the problems that exist in education today?

3. Why did you have the most militarized public school system in the country in Chicago?

4. Why do you think charter schools are the answer when they do not have to follow the same rules as public schools? You do know that they
are a prelude to privatization (& destruction) of our public school system, don't you?

5. Do you think this will hurt your so-called "support" with public school teachers and unions? Please explain your answer.

6. The NEA calls your "Race To The Top" a "disturbing federal intrusion." It does not appear that they support you.
What do you say to the NEA?

Please add your questions.

1. Mine
Why do you hate public education?

What do you propose to demand accountability from administrators, including principals?

So, you know, like so many others, he knows everything about schools. :sarcasm:

That reminds me of another question I would ask him:

What do you think of the idea to rid the public education system of rampant nepotism by replacing hiring systems with a civil service-type system which is already in place in the fifty states? Not that it would be perfect, but it would be far better than the hereditary title system we have in public education.

More:

How would you feel if we had true reciprocity of teacher licensure in all fifty states instead of this idiotic system wherein teachers, regardless of experience, have to spend money out of their own pockets to take stupid tests and pay for licenses in every stinking state? In other words, if you are licensed in one state in a subject area, that license is good in all fifty states.

Do you support portability of defined benefit pensions for teachers, so they are able to relocate to different states when the need arises without them having to start all over again on new pensions?

What do you think of the idea of granting tenure to ALL teachers from the first day of hire so that principals and other administrators can't shitcan teachers who are currently "at-will" employees in order to save money on retirement vesting and other benefits?

What do you think of the idea of requiring ALL termination hearings being open to the public and to the media so as to reduce the incidence of wrongful dismissals and rigged hearings?

9. When did Newt Gingrich ever have a good idea about anything?
I mean, he didn't even know what he was actually advocating and what was all that nonsense about Pell grants?? The guy is batshit insane. Newt thinks gay activists are the equivalent of extremist terrorists. Why do we want this guy anywhere around an education reform?
