Rudy G9u11ni weighs in on the decision to try terror suspects in New York

New York Terror Trial Plan a ‘Mistake,’ Giuliani Says (Update2)
By Alan Bjerga

Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The Obama administration’s decision to try five Sept. 11 suspects in federal court in Manhattan is a “mistake” that’s inappropriate for combating terrorism, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said.

Giuliani said moving Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the self- proclaimed mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and four others from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to New York for civilian trials will create additional costs and security concerns for the city. The White House plan is politically motivated, said Giuliani, New York’s mayor during the attacks, in interviews on “Fox News Sunday” and CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The Democratic administration’s plan, announced by Attorney General Eric Holder, marks a shift from the Republican Bush administration’s anti-terrorism strategy. Bush officials created military tribunals for the Guantanamo Bay prisoners, a process that was criticized by Democrats. Obama also is moving to close the prison in Cuba and relocate the detainees.

The decision of the Obama White House shows that “both in substance and reality, the war on terror in their point of view is over,” Giuliani told Fox. “There seems to be an over- concern with the rights of terrorists and a lack of concern with the rights of the public.”

White House senior adviser David Axelrod, speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union” today, defended the decision, saying that “we believe that these folks should be tried in New York City, as you say near where their heinous acts were conducted, in full view in our court system.” ........(more)

1. The President has made his decision
and it's now time for a wartime public to stand with the president and his team.

2. Rudy needs to STFU.
Our Attorney General has considered all the risks and benefits of having the trial in NYC, and those outweigh any thoughts that man might have.

5. Didn't Rudy used to be the federal prosecutor in New York?
Kinda funny that he, of all people, doesn't think a criminal can be convicted there.

(Like his buddy Bernie Kerik recently did  )

6. Yes...
and let's not forget what he said about the WTC federal prosecutions and the federal sentence of the 20th 911 hijacker:

WTC:

“I think it shows you put terrorism on one side, you put our legal system on the other, and our legal system comes out ahead.”

Moussaoui:

"At the same time, I was in awe of our system," the former mayor continued. "It does demonstrate that we can give people a fair trial, that we are exactly what we say we are. We are a nation of law. . . . I think he's going to be a symbol of American justice."

Even Chris Wallace threw these conclusions back at him this morning on Fox News Sunday.

8. There needs to be an open trial- in my mind I don't think we can say KSM
was the mastermind of 9/11.

YET...

Let's see the evidence please.
