The trial in NYC is the first step in re-claiming our freedom.

For eight long and anxious years, we were subjected to the fear tactics of the Bush Administration. At first, they had their yellow and red code days. Then it evolved into much more.

The people were told to be afraid. In instances like these, the 9/11 attacks, the Constitution had to take a back seat to our "security". We may have to give up some freedoms, they said.

So we started taking off our shoes and they started x-raying peoples bodies at airports. It was very intrusive. Then they started spying on Americans without a warrant. Millions of us were exposed to this under the Bush Administration. Then they started torturing the prisoners we had captured. Some of them died. Those of us that tried to protest were put into wired cages called "free speech zones".

Gradually, we gave away much of our freedoms. Actually, much more than many realize.

But now, the President has announced that there will be a trial in NYC for the culprits that attacked us on that eventful day. Once again, the Republicans, like trained seals, state that this can only make the terrorists hate us more and makes it more likely we will be attacked again. Really!

We are sending drones, as we speak, into the far reaches of Afghanistan, even across the Pakistan border, to kill suspected al Qaeda. We are occupying two Muslim countries. They have all heard about Abu Graib and the torture that took place. And there have been many innocent people killed, as there always are, in wars. It is not predictable.

Yet, after all that, we are supposed to be afraid of having a trial in this country and incarcerating or executing the guilty?? America has had it with the fear card. They are ready to stand up and reclaim our freedom. All of us need to stand up and support the President on this decision.

2. Do you really think a jury would acquit KSM??
Do you think a military tribual would have been better? After all, we can keep everything we want to keep secret with a military tribual. How would you prefer they handle this situation? Obama said he was going to close Guantanamo. Where would they be tried?

3. Our revolution was fought for many rights, one of which was the right to a fair trial.
The British just massacred our soldiers in the early battles in New York. There were no trials. They did not even bother to take prisoners in some instances. Our revolutionary soldiers fought for justice. There is no justice without a fair trial. We should treat every human being in the same way we want to be treated. Isn't that the way you apply the Golden Rule?

5. The British probably considered us to be terrorists. That's a horrible
thought, but they certainly treated our soldiers like we treat terrorists.

6. That may be overstating it a bit, but I generally agree.
It's definitely a good move.

7.  It is a great symbolic move by the Gov't
Even the most dispicible criminal deserves a fair trial, and that is what they will get.More importantly we can get some small measure of closure,
