And the hubbub has already started that somehow this cover is "sexist." :eyes:

I'm assuming she voluntarily participated in this photo shoot, so I'm not really getting the criticism.

1. It's sexist in that she's the person reducing other women to
nothing but eye candy.

There are many women who are both smart and attractive and she's dissing us.

20. Gwen Ifill was on Washington week babbling about Palin appealing...
to women voters. Gwen is a nice lady but what the hell is she talking about? Doesn't she mean STUPID women? Or maybe right wingnut women?

Most women I know are horrified by Palin's stupidity and crassness.

I surely don't think Gwen really thinks Palin appeals to women who actually do pay attention to these things.

68. Gwen isn't doing herself any favors by weighing in with this comment...
She wasn't very good at running the presidential debate she did, and she softballs too much.

I'm sure she's VERY nice, but she discourages me to watch Jim Leher News Hour (bleh!) She and Judy Woodruff can cash their chips in. Matter of fact, Jim's getting pretty lame.

You can do better than this, Gwen.

70. Yes, so I have an idea-
Shit-can the "News Hour with Jim Leher" - really

Next, get some news journalist besides my beloved Bill Moyers. Get a female version with real stones (Remember Linda Ellerby when cable news was brand new? She did a late show that was WONDERFUL).

We need a whole new news befitting the public evening news. Do it by collaborating from the perspective of every different kind of woman who is capable of contributing. Gwen might reverse her "ho-hum" image.

Make it bold and make do it on PBS. Surely Charlie Rose and Bill Moyers aren't the only ones to see!

Anecdotally, I have noticed that her stronger supporters have tended to be women, but so have her strongest detractors... and I have come across more strong detractors than strong supporters of Palin even in the conservative area where I live.

59. My wife said pretty much the same thing at breakfast this morning.

"She really sets back the idea that women can make it in politics."

The GOP tends to promote minorities/women that will further their freakishly evil cause.

Examples: SCJ Thomas (a mockery of Thurgood Marshall), RNC Chairman Steel (a mockery of Pres Obama), Palin (a mockery of Hillary and every woman that has entered into politics in order to bring about something worthwhile).

about a gender problem. The novice, Maria, was having trouble leading a normal, cloistered, and most likely celibate life... And so get's packed off to the hyper-fertile von Tramp family.

This cover is certainly sexist...

Edited on Sun Nov-15-09 02:54 PM by karynnj
This was a photo shoot that she intentionally did and that she controlled. The fact is that it is silly that we can't say that she used her attractiveness more than anyone I have ever seen in any campaign. If this were a candid picture (like Obama in Hawaii was) I would say it was unfair. In addition, she did these Runner's World photos AFTER loosing. With the American flag draped over the chair as a backdrop (not what I learned in Brownies about taking care of the flag - maybe Sarah's troop didn't cover that.) this can not even be said to be a photo of leader encouraging people to exercise. (The treatment of the flag is more disturbing to me - can you imagine the RW if a Democrat, had a flag like that as a prop?)

74. A former beauty pageant contestant who blows animals out of the woods
from helicopters, who uses her children as political props, whose husband is an automaton, and whose supporters should be rounded up and institutionalized.

Did I mention that she wants to be the President of the United States?

75. Why the hell is Failin still relevant in the eyes of the MSM?

I can't figure it out. She's dumb as a sack of horse shit, she's an opportunist, she is splitting up the GOP big time and nothing that comes out of her mouth can be believed. Yet they still give her prime coverage as if she's a rock star. This sort of thing is what gives most of the MSM the reputation they so rightfully deserve.
