Sarah Palin goes ‘Rogue’ with the facts
Source: Boston Herald

WASHINGTON - A fact-check of some of Sarah Palin’s statements in “Going Rogue,” obtained by The Associated Press in advance of its release Tuesday:

PALIN: Boasts that she ran her campaign for governor on small donations, mostly from first-time givers, and turned back large checks from big donors.

THE FACTS: Of the $1.3 million she raised for her primary and general election campaigns for governor, more than half came from people and political action committees giving at least $500.

PALIN: Says Ronald Reagan faced a worse recession than the one that looks to be ending now.

THE FACTS: Economists say the current recession is far worse. The recession Reagan faced lasted for 16 months; this one is in its 23rd month. The 1980s recession did not have a financial meltdown. Unemployment peaked at 10.8 percent, worse than the October 2009 high of 10.2 percent.

PALIN: Describing her resistance to federal stimulus money, Palin describes Alaska as a libertarian haven of independent Americans who don’t want “help” from government busybodies.

THE FACTS: Alaska is one of the states most dependent on federal subsidies, receiving $1.84 for each dollar it pays Washington.

1. Huffington Post has the contradicting emails from McCain's team
When it comes to rethugs, it's sometimes hard to tell who is lying, or perhaps, telling the bigger lie. I mean, seriously. Does anybody in this circus have ANY credibility???

She didn't write the damn book.I doubt she's even read it, assuming she's capable of reading.

3. Um, the Boston Herald is the CONSERVATIVE papar...
If they're piling on as well, does that mean some element of the Republican Party can see the train wreck ahead?

9. I suppose the Herald will say it was "inadvertent"!
Yeah, like Hannity is "inadvertent" with his lies and faked videos.

6. THAT'S too funny!
Looks like the Herald got itself confused! That's the anti-Palin book by the editors of the Nation.

7. Andrew Sullivan has got a list of her lies, too. .
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/11/the-odd-lies-of-sarah-palin-a-roundup.html

Title is perfect: "The Odd Lies of Sarah Palin: a Summary before the next Round"
The introduction. . .

On the eve of Palin's latest version of reality, the Dish offers a recap of all the demonstrable lies she has told in the public record. We reprint the list as a public service and invite readers to run the new "book" through exactly the same empirical wringer, so we can compile an up-to-date and comprehensive list of the fantasies, delusions, lies and non-facts that Palin is so pathologically and unalterably attached to. Remember: we are not including contested stories that we cannot prove definitively one way or another or the usual spin that politicians use, or even hypocrisy or shading of facts. We are merely including things she has said or written that can be definitively proven as untrue, by incontestable evidence in the public record.

13. Thanks! That is really great, and might deserve
it's own thread here.

I love them all. Sarah is such a liar, and why doesn't the M$M point this out? They want to make MONEY on her, but talking about her in newscasts and whatever for the next two weeks.

Fortunately, Sarah will be upstaged a week from Thursday by another turkey.

12. The Feds and oil companies (they "nationalized" their resources)
which, if you ask me, sounds a liiiiiiiiitle like....

With no statewide income or sales tax, Alaska funds about 90 percent of the state budget from royalties and taxes on oil producers.
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/09/13/fueled_by_oil_taxes_alaska_spending_soared_under_palin/

ALASKA is like NO OTHER STATE, COUNTRY OR CITY - It has NO state Income Tax and NO state sales tax and it sends cash money to its citizens each year. The state is primarily funded by Oil and Gas related revenues and money from the Federal Government.

In 2007 85.76% of Alaska state total tax revenue (TTT) came from the oil industry. (in the form of 4 different taxes). See - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080830143510AAZHidJ
