Some Fear Bush Administration Could Become Target in 9/11 Trial

by

FOXNews.com

Some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- for self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his accomplices could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

The Obama administration, in deciding to try alleged Sept. 11 conspirators in a New York courtroom, has said it is setting its sights on convictions, but some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

One of those five defendants, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, has been at the center of the debate over those Bush-era polices, in particular the harsh interrogation techniques used on Mohammed and others in an effort to obtain information on Al Qaeda and any additional attacks.

"The government is going to try to put Khalid Sheik Mohammed on trial. Defense lawyers will try and put the government on trial," former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Fox News.

3. I actually like this being talked about.
It is tying Bush's name to the crimes he most likely committed.

Bush and 9/11 should be inextricably tied together for all of history.

Perhaps Ghouliani and Fox is doing us a favor.

4. So, Rudy, your fear is that government actions won't stand scrutiny,
is that it?

Course YOUR judgment is never in question. Look at your buddy Kerik and all you did for him!

Yeah, I can see where Rudy might not like people looking at people in the government.....

Which is WHY I want to do just that!

8. And I'm afraid it won't
I'm afraid that the Obama administration will ask the courts to bar any such defense in the interest of national security, and the courts will, as usual when national security is mentioned, cravenly agree.

11. Some say that FUX NEWS uses the term "Some say" to create
a false concept that the story they use "Some say" about is a story that everyone is talking about.
However let it be known that some say, no make that most say, that FUX is little more than the propaganda arm of the Republican Party and the Bush WhiteHouse.

14. There's really no way it won't
There are far too many very, very red flags waving over the Bushies' handling of 9/11...starting with the fact that the whole thing could have been stopped if the administration would have sent via FAA channels a message to the airlines: we have reason to believe the risk of hijack attempts is very high right now. Hijackers are known to buy one-way tickets with cash, travel without luggage and act extremely nervous at check-in and when passing through airline security. If anyone like this shows up at one of your ticket counters, do not allow that person to board an airliner. Instead, contact airport security and detain them for questioning.

If they would have done that very simple thing, the morning papers would have read "attempted hijackers were taken into custody yesterday" instead of what they did say.

Absolutely correct. WAAAAAY too many red flags before, during and after from the Bewsh "administration" to brush this off as mere coinkey-dink.

Here's another great article by DUer Warren Pease on the insane amount of "coincidence" and "incompetence" that comprised 9-11:

19. It seems inevitable to me.
How are they going to try these people without bringing in how they got information from them? Once that topic comes up, the defense is going to insist that the whole torture issue means that any evidence must be excluded that is, in any way, related to that torture.

The door will open, and waterboarding will be the foot that keeps it from ever closing again.

Bring it!

24. Never
going to happen. Reagan slid through without a mark, Bush and his ilk will also.

Besides, President Obama would grant pardons to the whole filthy lot, IF by some miracle the Bush admin were held accountable for a damn thing. All the convicts would be hosting their own Fux News show, and continue making millions off their crimes.

The media is playing this shit angle for all it's worth, especially Fux. More whipping up their ignorant base. Revolting.
