So I got a call from the DSCC today looking for money
Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 10:18 PM by dflprincess
I told them I only donate to individual candidates and not the party and that I had scratched the DSCC of my list when the shoved Amy Klobuchar down our throats.

They then told me that it's "imperative" for the Democrats to have a 60 seat filibuster proof majority so they can get "something done", including HCR. I responded that the DSCC needed a new script, because the "we'll get something done" with 60 seats wasn't true and that I didn't appreciate insurance company give aways being called reform.

edited for a sentence that made no sense

2. When did the republicans need 60 seats to do anything?

10. Exactly.
I wonder if we could get anything done with 100 seats. Judging by what I've seen, I doubt it.

20 seats filled with people like Kucinich and Sanders would be enough. 100 seats filled with the rest of them wouldn't.

5. Everyone thinks Amy is "nice" - it comes from her refusal to take a position on anything
Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 10:41 PM by dflprincess
In addition, she's been quietly flirting with the Blue Dogs, the first time she had to cast a vote about extending FISA she voted for it (though after getting an earful from Minnesotans she voted "no" the next time). She has absolutley refused to take any kind of posistion on health care including whether or not she supports a "public option". She also has a staff that is very hostile to anyone who dares to question her position on anything.

However, she recently did come out against texting while driving. I've been thinking of submitting her name for a "Profile In Courage" award since she did that.

Finally, there was a real progressive running against her for endorsement (Ford Bell) and the DSCC, DNC and state party structure shut him out completely. The state party behaving that way before there was an endorsed candidate was totally out of line.

7. The Iowa Democratic Party did something similar
Edited on Sun Nov-15-09 01:30 AM by Wapsie B
with a physician running for state office, Dr. Seldon Spencer. The party left him hanging out to dry because he was an actual lefty, not a blue dog.
