How else do we know that the right culprits have been apprehended without having a trial?

Just because someone signed confessions doesn't mean diddly squat. I am sure the "witches" that were tortured would have been very happy to sign confessions to get the pain to stop. But that didn't make them witches.

Why is it so difficult for the wingnuts to get this simple fact to sink in to their hollow skulls?

4. and, frankly the way I see it...

There are plenty of American citizens that don't "deserve" the rights guaranteed them by our constitution, the fact that we ensure that they have those rights says more about us than it does about them. We make sure that they have those rights, deserved or not, because of who we are. Those that are clamoring in fear and timidity to renounce all of the principles that we hold dear are telling me, by their actions, everything I need to know about them. They have been defeated by the terrorists. I refuse to be.

5. I have to chuckle at the FEAR exhibited by brave "patriots" at the thought

of defendants getting fair trials on our soil. I guess I'll just add cowardice to my list of conservative values. No doubt, a teabagger will find some quote from a founding father stating that anyone accused of anything should go to GTMO forever. If I had "conservative" "values" I'd fucking kill myself. Probably not. If I had conservative values, I'd chicken out but act like a badass about my cowardice.
