Calling in crowd control to prevent tramplings and other injuries during Black Friday says something
Doesn't it?

"You may recall that last year, a man named Jdimytai Damour was trampled to death in the crush of a Walmart crowd eager to score Black Friday deals. This year, Walmart is taking steps to prevent another tragic incident.

In fact, they went so far as to call in the same crowd control experts that help to keep things under control at major events like the Super Bowl and the Olympics. Each store will have it's own gameplan, but the vast majority of locations (not just SuperCenters) will be open for 24-hours staring on Thanksgiving morning and ending on Friday evening. That way, Walmart hopes to prevent mammoth crowds from gathering outside the store waiting for the doors to open. They are also putting many of the most popular items behind displays, where employees will supervise lines and hand out the products to customers in an orderly fashion. Additional workers will be stationed outside the store to help direct foot traffic.

Because of incidents like the one at Walmart, the National Retail Federation has, for the first time, put together a list of guidelines aimed at crowd control in stores. Of course, even with all these precautions, I fear that this year will bring more horror stories about deadly violence erupting between crazed bargain hunters."

1. Something tells me they're not going to need much crowd control this year
Glad to see they're taking precautions though.

5. Whenever I see an "Incredible price" I simply make a mental note that that is the most I should...
...ever expect to pay for that item. So if I see an HP G71 in Walmart's ad for $400, I will expect it to be that price from then on.

8. But you might as well use your credit card now while the interest
is still only 29 percent, because we all know all the interest rates and fees will be going up again soon.

How do you expect our consumer-driven economy to recover if you don't get out there yourself and spend spend spend? . . . :glower:

4. Better yet, let Walmart fill up on Black Friday, and then seal it in three feet of concrete

7. I'm glad to read this. People will be going to Wal Mart in droves.
There may not be as much money as in previous years, but people are still shopping for cheap stuff like you wouldn't believe, so they'll be at Wal Mart instead of Penneys, etc. I have been going to thrift stores for years for my mosaic stuff and collectibles, and it's getting incredibly crowded these days.

9. I'm not one to go shopping on black Friday
I'm not really one to go shopping on Black Friday. I worked in retail several years ago and that was such a miserable day for the working stiffs, having to put up with shit not only from customers but from managers as well.

10. I never go shopping on black friday--there is nothing that I want or need that could persuade me to
be standing in the dark, freezing my ... off.

besides, we all know that the best deals come the day after xmas.
