Republican "fears" about bringing the criminal terrorists to NYC
Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 09:12 AM by kentuck
They are mostly misdirected. And most of the "fears" are driven by ex-Bush Cabinet people. Why?

They want us to believe that if we bring the terrorists to America for trial, that will piss off the terrorists around the world and unite them to attack us again, like they did on 9/11. Nevermind that drones are killing people at random. Nevermind that the US military is sitting in the heart of the Muslim world and is occupying two of their countries as we speak. Nevermind that they have all heard the stories about Abu Graib and the torture that our government committed.

No, none of that would cause them to unite and attack us again. But bringing these criminals to NYC to stand trial will do the trick. Really? Are people so simple and stupid?

The real reason these terrorists were not tried in US Courts was because of the Bush/Cheney penchant for secrecy. They love secrecy. They do not like people to know what they are doing or what they did in our names. That is what they fear the most.

1. Yep they are that simple and stupid
Just like since the start of the super max prisons not 1 person has escaped one, somehow the prisons aren't strong enough to hold a terrorist. Yet the state prison systems have kept folks like Charles Manson locked up how many decades now? Without escapes? These aren't even close to being like the super max prisons run by the feds. Stupidity runs deep in our fellow countrymen.

3. They liked the military tribunals because...
they could operate in secrecy and outside the laws of our country. They do not want that truth to be known.
