FBI Got Warning About Roeder Before Shooting
WICHITA, Kan. -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation said that more than a month before Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed, it received a letter warning them about the man now charged in the case.

FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton said the letter warned that Scott Roeder would physically harm Tiller or any other abortion provider.

The letter was written in April by Mark Archer. He and his wife are in the midst of a bitter custody battle with Roeder over a child Roeder fathered.

Roeder has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in Tiller's death.

Patton says the agency found no specific, credible threat in the letter.

1. I wonder if they followed up on this by interviewing Roeder or putting him under surveillance.
I don't understand why Operation Rescue are not considered to be domestic terror groups. Do they infiltrate these groups like they did with the anti-war groups?

4. I am sure they did not
The day before Roeder killed Dr Tiller, a clinic here in KC was vandalized. The police were called and the FBI was also notified. They did nothing. Imagine what may have (not) happened if the FBI had followed up and investigated the vandalism.

5. I don't understand why they don't take the threat posed by anti-abortion groups more seriously.
Were the police ever able to identify who vandalized the clinic? Was it Roeder?

7. He was a suspect.
He had picketed at that clinic for years. He was also caught vandalizing it before.

9. for the same reason we have the stupak amendment--women and their needs are expendable
think about the anthrax letters and threats to PP clinics and the very little that was ever done about them.

if the definition of terrorism is to make political points, to make people afraid, then these groups definitely qualify.

2. bush was warned about 9/11. The SEC was warned about Madoff.
The Ft. Hood people knew that Hasan was unstable and dangerous but did nothing. There seems to be an epidemic of ignoring warnings (clinically known as denial) in this country. People watch someone being raped and do nothing. Bankers are allowed to continue giving out billions in undeserved bonuses. Climate change proceeds with no response as the icecaps melt. Nobody does anything about anything.

What is wrong with Americans, anyway? We seem to have lost all of the human qualities that once made our nation great. All we have left is idiots texting while driving and "leaders" who ignore warnings of doom.

We are witnessing the decline and fall of America, and just think! You were there.

3. I am no longer worried about the government spying on me
Hell, I may even start talking about pot over the cell phone without the 'code words'. I knew when I worked there that the Intel in this country is seriously broken. It is only being used to justify expenses and operations. No real investigations are being done anymore.

It's a damn shame, I know, but I dont feel so bad about the spectre of the government listening in on my calls and watching where I go online.

6. They like to concentrate on elected officials, reporters and . . .
peace groups.
