The GOP and the KSM trial
Edited on Sat Nov-14-09 02:50 AM by noise
The fearmongering reinforces the whole "parent-child" psychological manipulation garbage they like to use. They justify the outrageous (undemocratic, fascist-model) secrecy by resorting to more fearmongering, i.e. revealing classified information at the trial has the potential to aid terrorists. The secrecy led to torture AND sickening efforts to justify torture. The secrecy led to invasions and occupations. The secrecy made it easy for the intel agencies to claim they needed police state powers to prevent terrorist attacks. Conservatives claim they are opposed to government, i.e. "Government IS the problem." Except when state power is used for things like torture. And when state power is used to keep citizens in a perpetual state of ignorance.

2. One notes the double standard
Where was GOP concern for retaliatory attacks when torture was employed? Instead the GOP was upset with the "traitorous" media coverage which dared to report on the use of torture. The GOP (i.e. Sen. Lindsey Graham) didn't have much to say when FBI agent Ali Soufan testified that legal interrogation methods were working until strangely halted for the CIA torture program. According to the GOP, rule of law conduct is considered out of line. Rule of law conduct makes us less safe. What a bizarre worldview.
