Scairdy Cats
The cons are up in arms about the decision to try some of the Gitmo detainees in NY courts. It's dangerous, they're yelling from the roofs, irresponsible! How dare the Obama admin do this, endanger lives.

Well, it seems like business as usual with these armchair neos and hawks who started these wars and have made a mess of them and yet aren't brave enough to stare terror in the face and let justice shut it down. No, they resort to sneaking around and playing big men with their renditions and torture.

The only ones who are scared here are them, NYers certainly aren't.

1. Brad Blakeman (on with Big Ed) just called Obama a coward
because this was announced while Obama was in Japan

3. People outside NY don't realize how NY'ers live with 9/11 reminders
I was on jury duty the past few days; the courthouses are just a little north of where the WTC was. Of course, the hole in the ground is still there but you see memorials to dead firemen and police officers everywhere in the area. Speaking for myself, I'd like to see the trial here. At the risk of using a trite psychobabble term, it will bring completion.

7. I Agree
Did my jury duty this time last year and the walk from the subway is interesting to say the least. Seems that neither you or I will be called for these trials.

15. Well, DC has it, but not to the extent of NY
I watched the smoke going up from the Pentagon, and all the rumors going around about what building got hit, and the god awful 4 hour drive home. And went through the National Guard blocking off a bunch of streets in the days after. So I agree, NY was more affected, but DC remembers too. And I'm talking about the people, not the government.

16. You're Right
My brother was in the Pentagon when that plane hit, though not in that building. DC often gets lost in the conversation of 9/11

5. They are really afraid for Bush and Cheney ...
and some of their involvment in the cases, they just want to cover it up. There are many more than Bush/Cheney involved. Now,these are the so called Bad asses, they are now crying about how this will put American lives in danger.

The only Americans they are worried about are the NEOCONS and the REPUBLICONS...They want the military courts so they can do some more covering up. They can talk all of the legal garbage they want it a lot of us ain't buying it..

9. Their argument is beyond stupid
These people are UNDER ARREST. What do they think they are going to do? Hijack a van and drive it into a school?

Unbelievable stupidity.

13. The argument is not stupid.
I fear potential attacks on the Judge and family, the Prosecutor and family, possibly the jurors. Not to mention the shuffling around of prisoners during a multi-year trial. This is not good. As much as I hate to say it, I think they should be tried at Gitmo.

by the DOJ, the mayor and Ray Kelly? They're not going to just wing it.

19. Come On
You think the mayor of this city as well as the police chief didn't
bring it up? Do you have any idea of the complexity and the extent of our terrorist center and you think this wasn't brought up? Maybe you should try to get into a building here for jury duty or even a tax audit. At one point we couldn't even bring our cell phones in with us/

21. IF there are any attacks, it wpuld be Cheney's fingerprints they find all over it
AGAIN. The real fear the neocons have about trials in NYC is the truth coming out. When were those maps dividing up the Iraqi oil fields made in meetings Cheney had with Big Oil?

11. I bet the people who are making the most noise don't even live in NY
Isn't that the way it was with the Iraq invasion?

People in NYC were overwhelmingly against it, as I recall, while the freepers of Oregon were all for it.

12. You'd Be Right
We voted for Kerry and we didn't want that war. I always thought it strange that the rest of the country didn't pay attention to how we felt about it.

On the day, one of the first things the mayor said was for everyone to get out of the city. In my home we said we weren't going anywhere, we weren't going to leave our city. In the days that followed we heard from a number of people who had the same reaction. Then of course they closed the city down and you couldn't get out if you wanted to.

Also, people forget we were hit twice by terrorists.
