Poll question: If you were assigned jury duty for the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed...
Would you pretty much have your mind made up prior to the testimony, or would you be open to delivering a Not Guilty verdict if the defense provided a compelling argument?

1. His "confession" under torture won't be admissible in court.
So I hope there's some actual evidence against him, or this trial would be a fucking joke that would only result in something else for the teabaggers to bitch about if he's not convicted.

3. ...there remains banking, travel, and electronic records that can implicate them.
These five detainees are the so-called worst of the worst. Much of the evidence against them is tainted by torture. However, there remains banking, travel, and electronic records that can implicate them. If these men can be tried in civilian courts then it is hard to see why all of the detainees cannot be tried in civilian courts. I hope the Obama administration gets credit for this from the same people who have been justly critical of them on these issues so far.

2. I realize he claimed responsibility for a lot of things, but
I would pay close attention to the evidence. There ARE some fame seeking nuts who claim to have done a lot of things they never did.

10. Never believe someone who confesses. We're smarter than that. He's a trickster all right.

4. The only proper answer is going in with an open mind to evidence. All else makes you unfit to serve.

6. And they are good about actually ASKING if there is any reason you can't keep an open mind.
To deny it if that is true, or to refrain from saying it's true when it is, is tantamount to perjury, a crime.

7. True, but I think a lot of people will have their minds made up
prior to hearing anything. A lot of people might question his guilt, but, at the same time, they wouldn't feel comfortable letting him walk back into the streets of NY as a free man.

8. I would ask him when he stopped working for the BFEE branch of US intelligence.
Until I got sensible answer from him, I would keep him alive.

11. CIA brain-damaged him during interrogation. His testimony probably wouldn't be admissible, anyway.
Gee, nobody could've foreseen that outcome.

12. They are going to have a tough time finding a fair jury in New York
Having lived through that day in DC and seeing the smoke from the Pentagon, I can only hope I would be fair.
