Fort Hood shooter may never walk again.....aawwww....
http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE5AC4Z820091113

HOUSTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army psychiatrist charged with 13 counts of murder in the Fort Hood Army base shootings may be permanently paralyzed from the waist down due to the gunshots used to subdue him, his lawyer said on Friday.

John Galligan, a retired Army colonel appointed to represent Major Nidal Malik Hasan during an upcoming military trial, also said Hasan, 39, could face more charges.

The U.S. Army has charged Hasan, a U.S.-born Muslim who is the son of immigrant parents, with premeditated murder in the deaths of 13 people on November 5 at the huge military base in Texas. He could face the death penalty if convicted.

Police officers shot Hasan four times during the incident to bring him down, and the wounds appear to have left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down, Galligan said

49. and he'll get all the "medical durable goods" he'll need for life
and whatever assistance he needs. Of course he probably wishes he had died in a blaze of glory, like he intended, but I have no doubt that this will end up being one very expensive prisoner..

I also bet that many of the others injured in the attack, will have life-long disabilities from their injuries, and will get a fraction of the help he will get..and they will have to work like hell to get their necessary care, and probably at great financial costs to them and their families..

Many will probably get cut loose from the military, and then have to fend for themselves in the almighty private sector:(

11. Think about this
The guy was on a suicide mission. What good does executing him do if he wanted to die anyway?

Wouldn't letting him live as paraplegic in jail for the rest of his life be more of a punishment?

BTW, having the state execute him accomplishes what?

32. A transfer chair would work nicely
it has four small wheels rather than the two large rear ones paras usually use to push themselves.

That way, Hasan Inmate No. 348562-B would be utterly dependent on the guards -- the MP guards -- to push him anywhere.

18. Its more like
10 by 4, single man cells in Leavenworth, not a lot of room at all. You can't even spread your arms out both ways. Although it's been awhile since I've been on the death row side so those cells may be different.

I'm anti DP but there would be no prohibition against executing him in his alleged condition.

36. Was just thinking the same thing.
How easy it is to get people to become what they claim to despise. Revenge. A family member of one of the victims of John Mohammed was asked if he had forgiven the killer last week. He said he had, because not to do so would rot his own soul.

I hope never to harbor the same hatred and need for revenge that drives any of these killers to do the awful things they do. Giving them that kind of power is a win for them. I'd like to think I share nothing with them.

If you want to make a KILLER a martyr then just go ahead and cheer while The State Executes him.

It won't be long thereafter that they may be coming to take "devout Muslims" into detention camps. Will you speak up? Or will you also cheer?

45. Oopsie!
I said about John Muhammed that I'd not worry about his execution for a second because of the lack of value he placed on the lives of those whose killings he choreographed.

I'll say the same about Hasan. If he never drew another breath, I'd care not. I don't care about how he's treated, or who treats him.

I would have preferred that his life came to an end on November 5th because of acute lead poisoning. The kind that happens when a small piece of lead expelled from the barrel of a gun penetrates the cranium.

Now that that's water under the bridge, I hope he spends whatever life he has left pissing on himself due to lack of bladder control. I hope he's forced to sit in his own shit while facing away from Mecca during each of his five daily prayers. I hope that he gets placed in a room with his forearms strapped to his chair while 100 non-aggressive yet LOVING dogs lick his face until dog saliva literally drips off of it. I hope that the only protein he ever ingests for the rest of his life comes from swine.

I don't really hope for those things. Honest.

But I do wish he would have died from the aforementioned lead poisoning.
