Wanna fight?
I'm feeling really backed into a corner tonight. I have, for several days, pursed my lips, bit my tongue and consciously forced myself to "wait 24 hours", "sleep on it", and, "try to understand the other side's argument". I've now waited 24 hours several times, slept on it for several nights and I now see the other side's argument.

It is wrong.

There is no damn way that we should continue to try to excuse or explain the continued membership in our party of first class gold-plated anal sphincters like Stupak, Lieberman(didn't he voluntarily quit our party?), Nelson and a few others I'm too pissed off to try to identify. Were it up to me, I would physically move their desks across the aisle, remove them from any leadership posts or committees and openly begin the process of recruiting and financing their primary opponents. I will personally pledge $100 to EACH.

And, Cult-member Stupak's threat that there would be "hell to pay" if his amendment is stripped out of the healthcare bill should not be ignored. He should be told to sit down, shut up and support the 2008 Democratic platform---which his amendment directly contradicts---or HELL WILL COME TO BREAKFAST!

And, if the dust settles and Bart Baby is still strutting and smiling, this Liberal Democrat(dinosaur) will sit on his hands and his checkbook in 2010.

And, those who dismiss me and those who feel as I do as "irrational purists", well, as Cheney said to Leahy----

2. Yeah, I do.
But with you, not against you. How about we popularize the phrase, "STUPAK is 67% STUPid? Seriously, your post got me thinking about several things. What goes through those guys minds? I mean, after they're done sucking off the insurance company lobbyists and have received their cash, what kind of monumental disconnect is there between reality and their perception of themselves? Do they go back to their constituents and whine, like Bush did in one debate with Kerry, about how harrrd it is to get anything done? Speaking of their constituents, what kind of ass clowns are so intellectually disabled that they continually believe assholes like Stupak, Lieberman, et al, and keep voting for them in spite of the overwhelming evidence of what kind of whores they really are?

6. I think the problem with the Democrats is there is a lot of money invested in the current system.
The health insurance companies spent about 1.4 million dollars a day trying to water down the Public Option so that it wouldn't be a threat. It's largely happened. It's not open to the public at large, just a small segment of it, but the health insurance mandate coupled with prohibitions against denial of care based on pre-existing conditions and so-called "lifetime caps" did pass.

It wasn't the best of bills. It isn't even liberal by European standards, but you take what you can get, even if it isn't much.

16. I bet a whole bunch of Democratic Congressmen would love to kick them out on their ass
I'd love to see them ejected from the Party. It would be interesting to see the impact of such a bold move. It might firm up the support of the remaining Dems or it might lead to a mass defection - it's tough to predict.
