If anyone read John Perkin's Book.."Secrets of Econmic Hit Man" ...you might want to watch this.
U.S. history has seen many presidents elected on a wave of progressive promises, only to see them compromise again and again once in office, caving to the very interests, military and corporate, that they railed against so effectively. Barack Obama is only the latest to get elected on a promise to end a war and take care of working people, only to preside over an administration stacked with Wall Street types and wind up continuing a war he wanted to wind down.

Americans voted for change and are getting frustrated with the lack of it, but our guests have both written about the powerful forces holding the status quo in place. John Perkins is the author of Hoodwinked and Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, and has written about how corporations push politicians around and even threaten them with violence. Russ Baker, meanwhile, is the author of Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, the Powerful Forces That Put It in the White House, and What Their Influence Means for America and has written extensively about the military-industrial complex.

They argue the only weapon we have is public opinion and public pressure–and we need to bring it to bear not just on the government, but on the corporations.

I'll watch it when I get finished watching his interview with Amy Goodman on Democracy Now.

My oldest 2 have also read 'Confessions of An Economic Hitman' and it along with the 'Shock Doctrine' are clarifications of the eye openers I've seen and read about over the years, and puts them all into sharp focus.

12. I have both. When you add "The Bu$h Agenda: Invading The World
One Country at a Time", you'll understand the culmination of the forces and how much total control they achieved. Add Antonia Juhasz's web site and books to your list of knowledge. The knowledge power in just those three books is eye opening.

6. Anyone here at DU who hates my thinking - it all came from John Perkins.

Or at least 40% of it (I do tend to hyperbole.)

I wish there was a way to make everyone read Perkins.

Especially since our nation owes other nations so much money and at some point the IMF hit man will be coming after OUR RESOURCES.

Value that glass of pure water that today pours from your tap, in ten years that glass will not be possible to any average Americans. (With "thanks" to the Kissinger-Giethner, Goldman Sachs - Bernanke crowd. And the President that appointed them.)

13. How is Kerry's photo in there?
And who is John Forbes related to? (Not meant as snark, I am truly uninformed about this.)

9. Yes,
it is a good interview, but the one with Amy was filmed Nov. 10 of this year, so it is current.
