Child sex abuse allegations may turn into a murder case
By DONALD BRADLEY
The Kansas City Star

With a man and his middle-aged sons in jail, investigators descended onto the rural property looking for evidence of rape, sodomy, bestiality and possible homicide.

According to court documents, Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, of Independence, allegedly presided over the abuse that included “mock weddings” in which one of the girls would marry a relative before the two would head to the chicken coop for privacy.

“You all have some fun,” Mohler reportedly then told them, pulling a blanket over the open door.

Four of Mohler’s sons are also charged: Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53, also of Independence; Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, of Columbia; Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City; and David A. Mohler, 52, of Iowa.

According to the charges, each of the men participated in the abuse of the children — all younger than 12.

Three of the men arrested this week were members of the Community of Christ lay priesthood: Burrell Mohler Sr., David Mohler and Jared Mohler.

I thought I'd read and heard everything but this one is the ultimate in (in)human depravity. This is sick! Just plain sick!

1. When I read stuff like this it makes me ill.
It also makes me damn near believe that the death penalty is the only thing these freaks understand. And I think that I could pull the trigger. Willingly.

3. It appears they're looking for it...
We'll have to wait and see what develops.

5.  Yes, it's sick! Just plain sick! and it has been happening all over the world since the beginning
of time. This is hardly the ultimate in depravity. As horrible as it is, the reality is that it is far too common and usually kept secret until the victims finally seek help for self-destructive behaviors or health issues. Fortunately the first one to report has others who corroborate what she said happened. Often this is not the case. For the victims this is but the first step to finding peace.

Never ceases to amaze what humans can do to each other. Pretty depressing.
