An episode of Glee (spoilers) which offered a window into what it is like to grow up gay
Glee had an amazing episode last night. Don't read any further if you didn't watch last night's episode yet.

Last night was the great diva off on Glee. Kurt and Rachel both want to sing Defying Gravity from Wicked so they have a sing off for the club to vote. They did a remarkable duet of the song for the show and Kurt matches Rachel note for note (in the soprano range) until the very last note when Kurt doesn't quite make it. A moment of weakness in an otherwise stellar musical performance? No, he throws the competition because his dad got a call saying "Your son if a faggot" and decides not to be a star with this song because he can't bear to see the look of pain on his dad's face after he got that call. Every day we make decisions about just how open we will be weighing both the cost and the benefits. It was shown so well in those few scenes. Here is a link to a youtube of Kurt (Chris Colier) singing the song complete with high note.

Sometimes you just have to see something to get it.

12. It's a mystery to me how the non-news part of Fox is home to many cool shows
Glee (along with quite a few other Fox shows) explores all kinds of ideas from a distinctly non-conservative perspective. Indeed, if it were on another network you'd probably see Fox News commentators moaning about how its brainwashing kids or some such nonsense.

4. It's the interaction between the father and son that I think the original poster
was referring to.

6. nothing but his singing like a girl made him all the more flamboyantly gay
which inturn lead to him being more of a target and thus his father being more of a target. I think pretty much any gay person makes a decision just how open to be, how big a target to be.

7. Aside from the botched high f...
who do you think sang it better?

So much talent in that little show. I just wish I knew if the actors were the ones really singing or not.

On a side note, my daughter now wants a wheelchair for Christmas.

10. I think she has a richer sounding voice, but I would be happy to have either
of their voices instead of my dreadfully flat one. LOL

but I think he brought more emotion to it.

17. Did that episode has a "viewer discretion" advisory?
Because almost every program on Fox has that disclaimer. But they never inform their audience what that phrase is?

So many times, they they should adopt it as their slogan.

18. I don't recall it having one
