I just had my first skirmish with a soldier in the War on Xmas this year.
ON Facebook no less. One of these people who believe that there should be prayer in schools and that creationism should be taught on equal footing with evolution. Actually simmered down a bit after I pointed out to her that the assertion that Christians were being persecuted and deprived of their holiday was simply wrong. That by addressing "Holiday" in the public area, we are showing respect for the customs and beliefs of many groups whose high holy days occur at this time. Told her that I'm certain she joins me in showing the same respect. Well, she says she doesn't have a religion but a way of life. I told her that all those other people have a way of life too and cleave to it just as fervently. Then I told her that science and religion each have their place and that that man has the ability to reason and learn for a purpose--to resolve the mysteries of the universe around him. Told her I respect her beliefs and wished many years of observations of her traditions ahead to her. She calmed down and told me she wouldn't be addressing Easter when it comes around.

Jeez, I didn't even know there was a war on Easter.

1. Of course, there's a war on Easter
And denying the Easter Bunny exists makes the Baby Jesus cry.

P.S. I'm a Christians who can't was raised to send holiday cards because the person at the other end might not be a Christian.

2. We won the War On Easter years ago.
That's why Easter Vacation is now called Spring Break.

8. IIRC ... it was the "conservative", status quo religion which decided to
off Jesus ... a lot of the "liberal" types decided to follow the teachings of the guy who healed the sick and fed the hungry ...

or is that written out of the bible now?

9. Eggs and Rabbits = Pagan Fertility Symbols

Christians won the war on Easter. The name Easter was originally came from the goddess Ēostre of Anglo-Saxon paganism.

13. Yule had nothing to do with Mithra
Mithra was a Zoroastrian demigod. Yule is a Germanic pagan feast day.

It's like saying Chanukah is Kuan Yin's birthday party.

11. War on Christmas
War on Easter - whatever it takes to claim false persecution to gain sympathy and local power.
Disingenuous and disgusting.

14. Putting creationism in schools would be like inserting a chapter
on evolution in the bible after Genesis. They would howl if someone did that.
