"NBC news correspondent Jenna Bush Hager had a news exclusive. And, like news exclusives in the Era of Infotainment TV, this one was broadcast by the entertainment division. Specifically, Jenna Bush interviewed her mother, Laura Bush, on the 38th episode of 'The Jay Leno Show'".

The person who is doing the story is supposed to be as famous as the person they are interviewing, which turns the story into a circus. And puts pressure on the person who is the subject into being entertaining as well, not dignified.

They realized that and created Operation Mockingbird. It could have been going on before that, but there really wasn't that much TV, anyway.
