2. Nothing. We wouldn't leave anyway. Kharzi is our puppet and
his oil buddies in Washington would tell him to STFU.

8. Afghanistan isn't much of an oil producing country
they never were IIRC. There was some talk of using Afghanistan as a pipeline conduit from the Caspian sea but the instability in the region and other options pretty much killed the plan.

Personally I think this is the main reason shrubbo and his buddies decided to dump Afghanistan so fast when the saw a chance to invade a real oil producing country like Iraq.

the 'stans through Afghanistan and that is where he fits in. The instability is preventing this right now, but without a Kharzai in place it would be impossible.

5. Replace him with a more reliable puppet. See Ngo Dinh Diem for precedent.

We are the only thing standing in the way of him being killed.

If Afghan people were responsible for his safety he would be dead within minutes of our departure.

They hate him.

7. Damn wouldn't that be a nice easy out?
Unfortunately I see the following happening in that case.

Karzai and pretty much the rest of the Afghan "government" is as corrupt as they come. He would probably be tossed out within three years by the scumbag Taliban which would immediately go back to it's old ways of murdering anyone they didn't like and invite al-queda right back in so they could get out of Pakistan.

The only way we could continue to or as some see it begin to go after al-queda is to strike inside Afghanistan covertly which might work because the scumbag Taliban would probably be too busy executing all the women that they thought may have looked at an American without a full burqa on.
