With so many "dupes" as OP and on threads, I wonder whether DU

is kinda slow. I also get a message that it did not go through, and another one that allowed me to copy and when I looked at the thread - it was there.

(Or was it because I was trashing the U function?)

1. Its because - as usual - people don't read ...

... the 'warning' that appears when they go to post something, or bother to scan the forums before starting a new thread.

2. DU was buggy yesterday and appears to still be today. I got the same error message.

Sometimes it posts anyway but it just doesn't show up in the My DU function.

4. Right. When a reply is posted, even with the error message

it does not appear on the My DU.

7. I just posted a thread - a really good article - got the error message BUT it shows up in the forum

( GD: P) although NOT on the Latest page so no one sees it as a new posting unless you check in the right forum.

It also doesn't show up in My DU so I can't check for replies or go to it easily. Weird DU bug.

5. YouTube crapped out yesterday, and it infected the Videos Forum

The DU servers were attached to all those YouTube clips that get put up ready to play, and when YouTube glitched, it affected DUs servers. Elad put something up about it yesterday, they shut the forum down, but if you're experiencing bugs, it may well mean the problems haven't been shaken out yet.

Elad is, as you know, a phenomenally lazy man. Skinner told me so.

6. When you get that blank page with error messages all over it,

your post still went through, I've learned (after many duped posts). Just hit the back button in your browser.

8. The usual dupe is when you see the same news posted over and over

because DUers are just hellbent to be the first with a story even when the news they are posting is hours old. Or they have to start their own thread on a subject to say the same things that the first 10 said because they are certain that what they have to say has never been so brilliantly posted before.

I avoid the post dupes with the error message by checking the forum and usually it is there when it doesn't even show in My DU.
