Blumenthal Will Wait to Challenge Lieberman

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D) told the New Haven Register that he will not run for governor instead opting to wait for a possible challenge to Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) in 2012.

Said Blumenthal: "It would be a challenge that I would welcome, if it were the right time to do it, and I thought I could make a difference. Stay tuned."

1. This is the sort of post DU is worth logging into to read. It informs
because it offers significant and pertinent stories from the political news and it uplifts because many of us have had our fill of Holy Joe Lieberman.

I hope Blumenthal follows through on this challenge and would wish him all good fortune.

2. Good morning, saltpoint!
Yes, I hope Blumenthal follows through also. I sure would like to see Lieberman out of the Senate and no longer in our face.

6. I think you'll see Joe turned out in 2012.
I think he will wreck everything that he can in the meantime. He's the scorched Earth type.

The GOPers were right about one thing that I can remember and that was that Joe really is a sore LOSER.

9. That's why I think he won't run
He's burning every bridge behind him. Like a child having a prolonged tantrum.

He wouldn't be re-elected here, unless once again the GOP didn't run a real candidate. Even then, it would be pretty tough - people who were fooled last time by his "I'm really a good Democrat, just playing this independent role now" BS won't be again.

Blumenthal would be appealing to a large number of people here - he's a grandstander to be sure, but he's done good work for a long time as the AG.

4. I am never going to donate to the Democratic party again...
I'm going to pick my races across the country and divide my donations between the people I believe can make a real difference. I can't wait for Lieberman's seat to come up in 2012. I just find it difficult to believe he will run. He must be hated by Connecticut Democrats as a whole.

7. He could definitely beat Lieberman here -
though I continue to think Lieberman won't run.

Blumenthal will appeal to many of the same people Lieberman fooled last go-round. They won't be so stupid again. (For the record, I wasn't one of them).

10. I think that's why he's been trying to pull down the
country around him.

He's knows he's done.

11. Will Lieberman run for the Republican nomination in Connecticut?
He knows he's finished in the Democratic Party. He polls higher with Republicans than Dems in Connecticut. Of course, I don't think the Republican Extremist Party would have his sorry ass either.

I expect to see the Three Blind Mice -- Lieberman, McCain and Lindsay Graham -- all shown the exit door by an increasingly fringe rabble still called the Republican Party.

12. That would be good news indeed
I would turn out in a big way to ensure the defeat of joementum once and for all no matter who is opposing that lying sack of shit. The nice thing about Blumenthal would be that he may be able clean that droopy faced pricks clock.

13. The Lieberman party of CT needs to be "un-authorized"
He needs to run as an independent, and hopefully will lose next time around..

CT needs to also close that loophole that lets a candidate lose in one party in the primary, and still end up on the ballot in Nov, as a different party's candidate..or as a no-party candidate.

You lose in the primary, you go away..
