I'll say one thing about the Prejean photos on TMZ...
they provide at least a couple of lessons to all:

1. If a picture or video is taken of you, you must assume that it will appear on the Internet. There is an inverse relationship between the innocuousness of the photo/video and the number of eventual hits, and a direct relationship between your fame/notoreity and the number of viewers.

2. More importantly: People should realize that the cosmetic surgery, diet, hair, nails, and fashion industries manufacture these 'stars' whom we see in the media. Say what you want about Prejean's politics, she is a stunningly beautiful made-up, coiffed, dieted, combed, and manicured woman (assuming that one subscribes to the Hollywood norm - perhaps a poor assumption here at DU, but I digress). The pics on TMZ reveal a pretty but certainly not 'glamorous' young lady. The point here is that young folks are generally fooled by the appearance of these people online and on TV and on the Big Screen, and believe that they look like this when they awaken in the morning. This contributes to eating disorders among the general population, to impossible-to-achieve aspirations, and of course, the notion that outer beauty is representative of inner beauty, depth, intelligence, and potential for success. This of course is nothing new, but each generation has to learn its own lessons, since every 20 yers, sex, illicit drugs, and popular music is "invented". Again.

3. One more thing, Sharon Stone once quipped that "You can only sleep your way to the 'middle'." This is true.

4. Now I have to go fix a psycho-hose-beast's tooth. Long day ahead.

1. I don't see her as representing a large swath of today's 20 somethings.
She represents a handful of exhibitionists. Women who enjoy the thought of constantly being the center of attention. Women who enjoy exposing their bodies to others (for the attention). Most 20 somethings today need some amount of liquor and/or drugs to get them to act like she does. Very few of her generation would go to the extremes she has, for attention.

2. Agreed but...
lots of people look at her and you'd be surprised perhaps how many idolize that "look"...there si a trememdous influence whether or not many or any participate in a beauty contest.

7. I find her "look" repellent.
The OP says she is stunningly beautiful, yet I see a plastic, phony shell wrapped around an empty mind. I'm stunned all right, but not by her "beauty".

8. that's why I wrote the disclaimer...
but the point of her 'look' has nothing to do with her repellant views...if she were a professive adherent of Dennis Kucinich, would she be more 'attractive'? No...not objectively...

she is by American standards, pretty. that's what got her into the position, so to speak, that she's in. Sorry to disappoint, but she's exceptionally beautiful when 'made up' from THAT peerspective in my, and many others', opinion. Obviously, once that issue is resolved, the rest of her is idiotic...

11. You were right the first time.

She is pretty when natural, and beautiful when made-up, dressed and air-brushed. People are being overly critical because she's so hate-able.

19. Yeah, I agree.
She reminds me of someone who works in Hooters: "Hi. Do you like my big tits? Aren't I beautiful?"

And, of course, my answer would be "No. You look like you were manufactured for the GE exhibit at Epcot Center."

4. As someone who frequents more than a few times a month night clubs and bars, I agree.
Alcohol lowers inhibitions that would otherwise keep quite a few women from doing the things they do when they do feel tipsy. I don't believe most women are exhibitionists either.

3. One is certainly true
One of the best bits of advice my mother ever gave me was "never have a picture taken that you wouldn't want on the front page of the newspaper because that's where it will be eventually." Those private photos taken for a boyfriend's viewing pleasure invariably get passed around, before or after the affair cools off.

Two is partially true. We don't tell girls what it costs to be Carrie Prejean in terms of painful surgeries and dental work and hours and hours of makeup and hair sessions, along with constant dieting and exercise. If they knew the truth, girls would be less interested in looking like fantasy women.

Sharon Stone was onto something. A woman who tries to sleep her way to the top finds out that whoever she's sleeping with still holds all the cards and that's where the top is and she'll never get there. The best she can possibly do is audition for trophy wife and get the gig. Most auditions fail and she ends up with nothing. Ask Monica Lewinsky.

As for the fourth point, don't get bit. Those psycho hose beasts can get nasty. I have one to wrestle with too, as soon as it warms enough that my fingers will work. It was a two knuckle job getting it apart and I don't know what it will take to get it back together.

13. And the old guys go ga=ga over
those fake breasts. And you can tell as soon as you look at one that they are fake. They sit there like powder puffs. A real woman's breast are like Jennifer Love Hewitts...that's why the Hollywood crowd are jealous of her and those like her.

Boy if anybody every doubted anything about Ann Coulter and who she was if you can find that picture of her when she was promoting ladies undies those boobs are so obvious you have to laugh.

14. and NEVER allow "intimacies" to be recorded
even if you love the person who will view or do the recording. you may not ALWAYS love them, or they, you..and once it's online, it's forever..your children will be viewing Mom..in all her glory:(

Every teen or twenty-something should think of how they may feel when their 10 yr old comes home from school, and tells her about the video they and their friend found online:(

15. And think about it: she is pretty, and she has NOTHING ELSE,
so it makes a certain sense that a woman who is raised to 'catch' a man as her means of making a living is going to be homophobic - homosexuality shortcircuits her whole meaning of existence.

I'm gonna tell you the way it is and I'm not gonna be kind or easy.
Your whole attitude stinks, I say, and the life you lead is completely empty.
You paint your head.
Your mind is dead.
You don't even know what I just said.

That's you: American Womanhood!
You're phony on top.
You're phony underneath.
You lay in bed & grit your teeth.
