Another One Bites It...James Dobson "Retires"...
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iwURffebKTz7-k_fthZRAk4nMsQgD9BLKF682

DENVER — James Dobson, the voice of conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, will no longer host its flagship radio broadcast and is cutting formal ties with the organization that he founded more than 30 years ago, the evangelical group said Friday.

Dobson, 73, and the board of directors both agreed about the moves, which will go into effect at the end of February, ministry officials said. The decision to part ways was amicable and long anticipated, said Gary Schneeberger, spokesman for the Colorado Springs-based group.

Dobson has distanced himself in recent years from the organization he founded in 1977 and built into an influential force — both as a political powerhouse and provider of conservative family and moral advice. Dobson resigned as Focus on the Family president in 2003 and as chairman of the board in February.

<snip>

Dobson will stop writing the Focus on the Family monthly newsletter — which he used to plead for funds in lean times — and turning it over fully to Daly, Schneeberger said.

No decision has been made about how to fill Dobson's absence as host of the daily radio show, which reaches an estimated 1.5 million U.S. listeners daily. Schneeberger said Dobson will appear as an occasional guest

Looks like he was kinda sorta pushed aside.

First there's Lou Doobies moving on to a "higher calling" (snicker), reports of the Moonie Times in turmoil and this...a true sign of the wingnut apocolypse...

8. Follow The Money...
At his height...about 10 years ago, Dobson was a money machine...the radio show, books and other ventures. Lately the well's gone dry. I see this as much a financial decision than anything else. Let's definitely keep a watch here...see what happens to his radio show that used to be highlighted on many stations across the country. Whomever takes over the show is the new "boss".

we keep hoping they will fold that big, ugly, hate-filled tent and go quietly away.

14. If there was karma, Colorado legislature should introduce a revocation of tax extempt status
of the Focus on the Family and taxed heavily enough to move out of Colorado into some right-wing hellhole somewhere in Bumfuck, Iran.

He spoke of the writing on the wall right after Obama won the election, as I recall.

21. Well I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying that Rev. Dobson will
be sorely missed.

Why, I'm missing him already.

I'm tearing up and my throat muscles are tightening in grief.

Now I'm tremulous and may have to use the bathroom soon.

Please don't go, Rev. Dobson. We love you!

22. Two down...how many more to go?
Let's see....Pat Robertson, all the TV evangelists, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Boss Limbaugh, Glen Beck, the entire Fox & Friends set, the rest of Fox, Jon Stossel, Michael Savage, Joe Scarborough, Ruppert Murdoch, Dick Morris, Cokie Roberts, David Gregory, Georgie Stephanopoulus, Rick Warren, Mary Matlin, Wolf Blitzer...

but the 2 bye bye's today is a good start.

23. alas, dobby's retirement (announced here weeks ago) is offset by methhead ted haggard starting a new
church. I am guessing he also no longer has a pipeline to the oval office and his weekly chats with the prez.
