1. Keith is a little too strident and melodramatic for me at times...
...I do like his sense of humor though.

2. I've never seen either of them except for clips here on DU
Keith seems like an entertainer, Rachel a reporter..

3. I predict Rachel will win handily
but might not fare as well against the winner of Stewart-Colbert (and I give the edge to Stewart)

8. Well, I think she's a better journalist. He's a better ranter--and Lord knows we need good ranters
Edited on Wed Nov-11-09 10:27 PM by Bucky
Maybe less so since the White House came into the hands of sane people, but Olbermann is still much better at highlighting the madness of the right wing's world view. But personally, I'm a bigger fan of her no-nonsense meat-n-potatoes reporting style. I think she's the most impressive news anchor since Walter Cronkite.

Of course I love 'em both and I value their diverse styles. But I'm just trying to force people to take a stand in this poll.

Hard to pick one over the other.

It's like picking chocolate cake over peach cobbler. No. Can. Do.

Sorry.

The kitteh gets it.

14. Okay, okay!
Just to save the kitteh, I'll vote for Keith.

Only because I usually watch all of Keith's show but usually only the first half hour of Rachel. It's all about the timing. More than an hour and a half of commentary is enough to put me in either a funk or a rage.

5. Keith stepped out when there was no one
And for that reason alone I choose him. He can be melodramatic and Rachel generally has her facts together much better which I really like, but I don't know if we'd have made it out of the grasp of the neocons without Keith.

6. A Very Hard Choice....
I feel like voting twice so that I can vote for both; however, I chose Rachel because she is a breath of fresh air in the pundit/commentator world. She is incredibly smart, not afraid to confront someone who is not telling the truth and does so without insulting or yelling, her grasp of the issues and policies is amazing and she's funny and she's a geek.

But Keith, I do love him. He had the courage to speak to the truth long before we were hearing it from anyone else and gave us a voice.

So you gotta love em both.

16. There may be.
Or not.

I am sure that Chicago pizza is over-rated. I like home-town pizzas in smaller towns. Also the way local diners fix biscuits and gravy seems completely superior to the chain restaurants.

Others disagree.

23. You are rich in apocalyptic imagery regarding food selection, PVnRT.
I love Chicago generally but don't find its big-city pizza superior to smaller-town local pizza.

Even a few local chains in smaller cities seem to be tastier. The LaRosa's chain in greater Cincinnati, for example, and Arni's pizza in Indiana, plus any number of great pizza venues in California's Bay Area.

Small towns can dish a deep dish with the big boys any day, IMO.

i've long said i thought olberman was a clown. his schtick is mildly amusing to me, for about 10 minutes.

maddow, otoh, is AWESOME. after watching her for about 1 minute on Tucker (of all places) back in the day, i knew she'd be a star.

it was like seeing portman in the professional

maddow is AWESOME

27. I absolutely LOVE Keith, but I think his show would be sooo much...
better if he would get rid of the comedy segments. He's also very easy on the eyes. Rachel is sooo informative and I like that a lot. However, I don't think I could be without either one of them.

30. Hard choice.
Because really they are filling different roles. I went with Rachel because she's a real jounalist. Olbermann can be a bit too over-the-top sometimes, even if he has had me in stitches more times than I can count.

31. I like them both, but prefer Rachel if given only one choice.
She seems to do more research on her topics and is more about getting the news out there than Keith. I like KO too, but he is more about commentary than getting information out there. KO would also be better if he had guests from the right on so that he could question them. He seems to know his stuff, but I am assuming that his delivery tends to keep right wingers from wanting to go on his show. Rachel suckers them in and smacks them down.
