Here's a great Democrat; Rep. Jay Inslee - did you know he fought Gonzales?
Jay Inslee came to my attention watching the Downing Street basement investigation on C-SPAN3.

He fought to oust Attorney General Alberto Gonzales too.

"...in 2007, after carefully considering the importance of maintaining a fair, credible and responsible Department of Justice, I (Jay Inslee) introduced H.Res. 589, directing the Committee on the Judiciary to investigate whether Alberto R. Gonzales, former Attorney General of the United States, should be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors. I am pleased to say that, due to this consistent pressure from Members of Congress, Alberto Gonzales resigned from his position as Attorney General of the United States, effective September 17, 2007..."

Just need to give these fighters all the props we can. Any more unsung heroes that you know of that don't get on the TV propaganda machine enough?

1. I love having him as my rep.
I saw him late last year along with Gregoire, Cantwell, Murray and Janet Napolitano. It's nice having reps that you rarely, if ever have to worry about doing the right thing.

2. Went to HS with Inslee
...He was a major football AND basketball star (Ingraham HS) He was a big part of our school getting a national record for no team even scoring one point against us during the whole season. Not making this up, I was in the band and played at every game. We made the state championships for both basketball and football 2 years in a row while he was there in his Jr and Sr year.

Jay has always been a nice guy too, even though he was popular, he was nice to everyone, no matter who it was. He just never had that "frat boy" mentality.

I think Jay is a fine representative. His great sense of fairness has translated into a progressive open minded U.S. Representative. I am in his district and am proud he represents my area.

4. Seems like he'd be a good Presidential nominee
Representative Inslee just seems to have what it takes. Obama wasn't even a Governor and he got in, as a SENATOR even! The more I learn about him, the more I like him. A true Democrat and a damn fine patriot IMHO.

Sen. Patty Murray and Congressman Jay Inslee are lobbying legislators to cancel this week's hearing on a resolution calling on Congress to investigate and consider impeaching President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Inslee and Murray, both Democrats who voted against the war, think state lawmakers holding hearings and voting on impeachment is a distraction from what Democrats are doing in Congress, including their efforts to end the war.

- snip -

"Jay called and he said, 'Darlene, don't do this,'" said Sen. Darlene Fairley, D-Lake Forest Park. She is chairwoman of the Senate Government Operations and Elections Committee, which is scheduled to hold a hearing on two measures Thursday. One is Sen. Eric Oemig's joint memorial calling for Congress to investigate and consider impeachment of Bush and Cheney. The other is Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles' measure opposing Bush's troop increase in Iraq.

"I said, 'Jay it's all over YouTube. I can't un-ring that bell,'" Fairley said. There are a number of videos posted to the site featuring Oemig and the impeachment measure.

Inslee has been busy with a family matter and unavailable. But he earlier told The Stranger's Josh Feit why he opposes impeachment.

As much as I despise what this president has done to the country, my job is to find a way to end the war in Iraq, which I voted against. We should do nothing whatsoever to hinder our effort to end the war. Grandstanding that prevents us from growing a coalition against the war is a luxury we cannot afford. We don't have the votes to remove Bush from office. Bush is leaving office. We need to make sure our troops are leaving Iraq.
