iPod Touch Question - I'm Posting In Gen Disc Because I'm Leaving For A Trip And Need A Response...
I Just Purchased An iPod Touch And Will Be Traveling To Europe - 2 Questions

1. How do you handle charging the device in Europe? Can you use a converter with the device or will it harm it?

2. How easy is it to find free WiFi sites in Europe (Netherlands/Germany/Poland) as the Touch has WiFi capabilities? Is it easy to use WiFi and what should I know about this?

Any help would be appreciated.

2. If You're Charging Off The USB Port, No Change Needed
USB in the US is the same as USB anywhere else, so it you use the standard charging scheme through the standard white Apple cable, all is cool.

Don't know about WiFi availability, but usage is trivially easy.

4. Netherlands/Germany/Poland
Sweet!

Most of the hotels have free WiFi.

Have a wonderful trip and drink a Zywiec for me when you get to Poland.

5. The fine print on the charger will tell you what power it expects.
I'm pretty sure that Apple's charger is "universal" (needing only a plug
adapter), but don't take my word for it; read YOUR charger and be sure!

6. What to look for.....
Input voltage 100-240V

If it just shows 100-110V you'll need a power converter. If it says 100-240V you'll just need the plug adaptor.

As for Wi-Fi, remember the US is still a 3rd world (OK 2nd world maybe) country when it comes to internet access and speed. I think that you'll be surprised at the access and the speeds in Europe.

Have fun and safe travels.

7. FYI: My Apple-supplied iPhone 3G charger is definitely universal.
> If it just shows 100-110V you'll need a power converter.

Well, more likely 100-120V given that the United States nominal
line voltage is 117V, but that's just a nit ;-).

In any case, as I mentioned in the subject line, my Apple iPhone 3G
charger is definitely universal. So is my third-party charger which
is *REALLY* universal as it also operates from a 12VDC car cigar
lighter outlet as well as 100-240VAC.
