"It's obvious: Repuke infiltrators have descended on DU"
That is a title from November 10.

November 10, 2002, that is.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

1. How dare you suggest things are like they used to be?!
Sir! I demand satisfaction!

Yeah, the good old days are seldom what they're characterized as being.

9. Now don't bring any common sense to this
argument.

11. I try to avoid using common sense in GD.
As you can see from the material I dug up, avoiding common sense in GD is a long-standing tradition here.

2. From November 2003, we have titles like:
"Flame me if you must but this Arnold bashing is really annoying"

"Dean Is NOT Progressive, Would Be WORSE Than Clinton"

"Why I wish Gore would just shut up and go away"

"Poll: Is Dean just another Ralph Nader whom will divide swing voters?"

"In defense of Donald Rumsfeld"

"KFC: Kucinich for commies"

And, this gem:

"I think Edwards needs a scandal so the media will talk about him."

3. I think someone consulted Rovian policy and decided to change reality on DU.

I believe time is now being wasted trying to figure out who is who.

I'm not one to go to freeper sites, but it looks like some are coming here instead.

Always the pretense problem - it never ends.

I seem to check in less. That's not good for DU.

We are in need of soap.

5. I was noting with irony the "DU isn't the same, we're being
overrun with Republican/DLC/Obamabot trolls" thread on the Greatest Page.

This site isn't all that different than it was in the past.

12. Peoples memories are always
filtering out the stuff that doesn't fit with their worldview and opinion. It's not a knock on any person, it's simple human nature to remember the good much more than the bad and that means remembering things in the past that agree with you rather than those that piss you off.

The good ol' days are a myth and always have been but it's a normal human response.

13. It's a reflection on society. Every generation always thinks that it has it the worst.
The economy has never been this bad. Uh, how about the depression?

Corporations have never had this much control. Uh, how about the robber baron era?

Happens to the other side, too. Every generation of the religious right thinks that the rapture will happen during its lifetime. And the apocalypse.

14. Every generation thinks it's smarter than the one before it
and wiser the one after it.

Can't remember where I heard that.

16. Good point. DU is a democratic site and many of us forget that
in the Democratic party are not only progressives.
