Great post in praise of Dennis Kucinich
If you read Arthur Silber regularly (and you should, you should!), you'll know his profession isn't buttering up Democrats -- it's giving you the straight stuff like almost no one else does.

From his post on "An Extraordinary Man ":

Dennis Kucinich would be rare in any field of human endeavor. In politics, an individual like Kucinich is almost unheard of: he is a principled man. Is he perfect? Of course not; none of us is. And he works in a thoroughly corrupt system, which means that not only his principles, but principles as such, are under assault every second of every day.

Given that, Kucinich's record is unusual in the extreme. His repeated willingness to act in accordance with his declared convictions is extraordinary.

Please click through and read, and K&R if you'd like more DUers to see this.

(And how seriously can you take a writer who would use a phrase like "none of us is"?)

8. It is correct.
"not one of us is"
"no one of us is"

13. Though Your Example Is Wrong, I Still Learned Something.
That example might work for you, but is technically incorrect since it seems to imply that the example is a firm way to arrive at the conclusion, and that 'is' is the one right choice. In reality, I just learned that in the OP context using either 'is' or 'are' is technically acceptable, though to most using 'are' in this case would by far be more popular and flowing. Hey, learn somethin new everyday!

But the Kook is still utterly useless...

To receive praise from him, you have to be an extraordinary person. Kucinich can be proud.

10. Me too.
More from his October 21st post (which he references in the linked post).

"It's no debate at all: whatever happens, certain already immensely powerful and wealthy corporations closely allied with the State will become still more powerful and wealthy. Given the nature of the corporatist system that now throttles every aspect of life in the U.S., that is how the system works. That's how it's set up, and that's its purpose. The fact that insurance companies will reap huge rewards on the backs of "ordinary" taxpaying Americans is not a regrettable byproduct of an allegedly good but imperfect effort at reform, or a flaw that will be fixed at some unspecified future date. And as already powerful and wealthy interests become more powerful and wealthy, the State will also increase its already massive power over all our lives still more. None of that is incidental: it's the point."

11. He's such a great writer, one of the best.
The OP is correct that anyone who doesn't read him, should.

He and Chris Floyd. Most of the other so-called Liberal writers online, sold out for money long ago.

There are not many people he respects in politics because he's far too smart to be fooled by them. I'm glad that he sees Kucinich's value not just as a politician, but as a human being.
