Frontline: Sick Around The World
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 11:19 PM by Digit
Entire program can be viewed at pbs.org

"In Sick Around the World, FRONTLINE teams up with veteran Washington Post foreign correspondent T.R. Reid to find out how five other capitalist democracies -- the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Taiwan and Switzerland -- deliver health care, and what the United States might learn from their successes and their failures. (more »)"

Britain, Switzerland, Japan, Germany and Taiwan are covered.

It seems to me that in those countries that have mandatory enrollment, they are NOT FOR PROFIT insurers. That IMO is another fatal flaw of this mandate and inherently dangerous.

Sorry, I had entered the intro for Sick Around America instead of Sick Around The World

1. I believe Britain's health care is purely socialized. No need for insurance.
I think they should have also showed Canada's health care system. It is a good show to watch and I think I might watch it again.

Peace,
Xicano

4. I was reading the discussions on the pbs site
Someone brought up something that had crossed my own mind.
If these countries are imposing price restrictions on pharmaceuticals, then aren't we as a country paying the price?

With the ridiculous markup on drugs, it would seem possible.

5. NOT FOR PROFIT is the key to a successful health care system.
Of course, since our duty is to support industry even at our own peril, we can't have a successful health care system in the USA.
