24. I always felt if I voted for it, it would be the same as me doing it.
I remember it was on rhe ballot and I had to vote no.

4. I think inmates incarcerated for any period of time should have the option of choosing
state assisted suicide. I'd rather be dead than locked up for decades. Euthanasia seems a lot more humane to me than a life sentence.

They're entitled to justice, not vengeance.

21. They are entitled to a fair trial and the victims are
entitled to justice. Those three I'll pull the trigger.

26. Go for it. Just don't do it in my name.
You can engage in whatever revenge fantasies you like.

We The People shouldn't be executing people, IMO.

27. It's not revenge it's just preventing the scumbags from
killing again, the best deterrent there is.

29. Life without parole prevents just as much.
It's about need for vengeance. Your posts practically drip with it.

10. there is no scientific proof that death is a penalty, your opinion/religion is not justification
to kill a person.. we need "FACTS". there are none. religious wise, there are no atheists in a gas chamber/electric chair..etc. all they do is accept Jesus and are in Heaven before the body's cold.

opinion wise.. everybody has one..so what's special about that.?

the Death Penalty is nothing more than a Blood Sacrifice for votes, a Politician's promise to kill prisoners in custody for a vote if elected.. knowing all along that the D.P. is not, has never been a deterrent to any crime. life time isolation in a confined small space is a punishment... that's provable, you can put that on a scale from 1-10

16. A worse punishment is to spend an entire lifetime in a box w/o windows and no hope of ever getting
out of it, not to mention cheaper, but then there is the private prison problem.

28. It's not a question of who deserves to die, but who should be allowed to kill.
I don't believe government--meaning we the people--should have that power. The average jury comprises the same folks who watch cable news programs and vote for Bush because they want to have a beer with him. And even they are smarter than our governor and half our judges here in Texas. Should they have the power of life and death?

I agree with Victor Hugo. Until we learn how to create life, we shouldn't have the right to end it.

30. Luke Skywalker waged a war of terror and killed more than those 3 combined
Edited on Wed Nov-11-09 04:59 AM by Ter
The Empire was the government in charge. That act of terror against the Death Star killed 1,000's, including many innocent workers, doctors, and babies on board. Some hero.

Why two votes for John Muhammad, and no votes for either McVeigh or Roeder?

Quirky!

32. I don't believe in the death penalty ....
It is state sanctioned murder, nothing more. It's like the cartoon that floats around the internet showing a little girl saying, "Why do we have to kill someone to show that killing is wrong?"

Life imprisonment without parole removes the murderer from society. Isn't the point justice and not revenge? Revenge may be a human feeling, but is it a feeling that really needs to be cultivated? Also execution is final and people make mistakes. You can't undo death.
