Please explain how this Health Care isnt a sell out?
Since so many of you are smarter than me, I have a few questions.

Did I wake up and find out I've been sold out by my party?

Was this in any campaign promises anywhere?

Did my party just pass a legislative windfall for Insurance Corporations?

Did I really need a law telling me that if I do not get health care I go to prison?

That's not really what I meant when I was hoping for health care reform when I voted last year. This type of "reform" is not what was on the table.

I stand with my fellow progressives and Dennis Kucinich and reject this corporate sell out by the House.

I still demand universal health care now.

and I still demand an end to this illegal war.

We are now sold out to health care corporations and the war machine.

Thank you for any assistance in understanding why I need to line up my support behind this total FUBAR.

7. Its complete gibberish
Maybe someone could post a cliff notes version.

Everything I've read about it can be summed up in two words.

Sell Out.

4. Of course it's a sell out
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 08:09 PM by Downtown Hound
Anything less than total universal health coverage is a sellout. It's just that as sellout's go, it could be a hell of a lot worse and many, myself included, view it at least as a step in the right direction. Is it sad that that is what we are forced to accept? Yes. But that's the way it is. If we have to fight tooth and nail for this every year and gradually chip away at it more and more, then that's what we're going to do.

This bill isn't the end. It's the beginning. That's the way I choose to look at it.

6. There is no jail sentence for people who don't buy
health insurance. There is a tax/fine. This 'jail' hysteria is the stuff the Ron Paul/LaRouchies preach every time there's a new tax.

The health insurance companies would be losing their antitrust exemption, opening them up to government investigation and private lawsuits.

10. It's IRS enforced
you'd better believe it - "go to jail" is absolutely among the penalties they can seek to impose.

These people just made you a slave to private companies, backed by the force and reach of the federal government.

This legislation doesn't even meet basic human rights requirements, forget about actually being a "reform". This is legislation-by-bribery on steroids!

8. we are supposed to be content with morsels
I don't understand the subservient mindset.
These idiots in congress are supposed to be obedient and submissive to the public not us to them.

11. Why should DU be content?
This is not what progressives wanted.

This is not what we discuss.

But so many seem hell bent on rolling over to corporate interests.

17. Far greater numbers of people have sussed the game since 99'. Count on it
It's been so obvious that no degree of spin and obfuscation work anymore ... hell, M$M has collectively taken an enormous hit/loss due to people no longer trusting corporate sources for info that's clearly biased toward its owners and interests.

13. pukes should love this bill
They are only freaking because they werent smart enough to think of it first and thus don't get the insurance company pay off.

Poor women still will have trouble funding an abortion and their corporate masters will get all the richer.

There is nothing about this bill that they shouldnt like, except they didnt get a piece of the pie.

18. When one lives in a sick, stingy, hypocritical empire
this is what one gets.

The "Health Insurance and Drug Corporation Stimulus Bill" of 2009...

This lousy, sick, bankrupt USAmerikan Empire can't even get a simple concept like "We need to help each other in our times of need." or "Yes, I am my brother's keeper."

And not just about "Health Care"

This bullsh*t legislation is being "crafted" by people in the pocket of corporations and simmering in a sea of corporate-think.

This bullsh*t "nation" can spend trillions on the war machine in order to rape and rob from the billions to allow a tiny minority to live in utter luxury and a slight majority to be marginally fed and entertained by the bread and circuses of the Empire - mcdonalds and cable TV, but can’t find its way to spend anything substantial for the General Welfare.

Meanwhile, the mindless glorification of that USAmerikan Imperial war machine and its dirty deeds fill the airwaves of the empire’s propaganda machine on ARMISTICE DAY; the day on which the rest of the world (the semi-civilized part) celebrates the sudden, planned outbreak of Peace 90 years ago today.

We can’t allow the promotion of bad examples like PEACE or "Universal Health Care" now, can we?

SICKENING...
