4. I'm sure...
...which is why I want to hear from everyone what their own major problems are with the bill.

2. 1,2, and 7.
It makes no sense to block state's that want to go single payer. Mandates without a cross-the-board chance to choose a public option is a stimulus for the insurance companies.

I don't think stupak's will make it past the Senate.

3. Other-all of the above, but top of the list is the mandates.
It penalizes the poor who may have too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to buy insurance. It puts them in a "Do I eat, or buy insurance, or risk being penalized and even criminalized if I don't buy the insurance?" position.

or, "None. There are several provisions that provide immediate remedies that outweigh any and all of the above"

18. It's a valid choice in a poll.
What if there ARE no "deal-breakers" as far as somebody is concerned?

Note: The fact that something is not a "deal breaker" does NOT mean someone approves of it.

So no, I'm not missing a meeting. However, I AM missing choir practice, I guess. What time did it start?

12. You're not the only DUer who has expressed such feelings
The main concern is that once a bill is signed by Obama, most of our current legislators will never touch health insurance reform again, and Pelosi and Reid won't even schedule debate on any attempt to amend the new act. So we want people to get the health insurance they need, but we want it done right the first time - otherwise millions of Americans will continue to suffer at the hands of Big Insurance because of the deficiencies of the reform act.

24. You have to admit that it's likely.
Once this is done Obama and the Democrats will have established their cred on the issue and will not revisit it unless there are serious problems with it. There are many other issues that must be dealt with.

And no, we can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Even after months of public focus on health care we can barely mobilize any resistance to really bad proposals.

"Like it or not, we move forward in this nation in fits and spurts, because our government was established in such a manner that we are forced to hash things out.

Right now we are working on a giant step forward, one that was started decades ago. Civil rights and womens right and workers rights and now health rights are being fought. None have been resolved by a single piece of legislation or a single court decision.

The battles are fought on many fields to move the nation forward."

6. You left out, "all of the above and more." I have not found ANYTHING that is improved
by this atrocity. Any of the predicted benefits are mired in complex legalese that will lead to negative outcomes once implemented by the corporate types in government and the insurance corps. It is so far from good that it is not even in the same universe as perfect.

The worst thing is that it effectively kills any chance for real reform of healthCARE for the rest of my life. Maybe my grandchildren...

10. regulation of adminsitrative cost ratios is in the bill. BUT it does not
solve the problem; it creates a new problem the way it is written. The bill provides for a 15% ratio.

The question specifically asks for the biggest deal-breaker, which is why there's no "All of the Above" option.

13. No ability of states to pursue single payer, since the sequence of events in Canada
which led there to national single payer was that one of the provinces started that, it spread to the others, and finally became national. The other provisions are also bad, however.

17. I have concerns. My concerns aren't DEALBREAKERS though.
The bill should move forward.

The Status Quo is unacceptable. There is more good in the bill than some DU'ers let on.

Stupak is abominable. I am pretty sure it is going to get taken out. The grounds will be "This goes further than HYDE."

From some reporting, it sounds as if Stupak was GRANDSTANDING for the fundies. When it is taken away, Stupak etc will say, "Oh well we tried" and then vote for the bill.

28. It's a deal-breaker for me, too
Which is why the House will have to hurry back under the dome in order to pass another health insurance reform bill before the end of the year - one that satisfies Obama's requirements, but also gives Americans real reform and puts Big Insurance on notice instead of in the driver's seat.

21. These are all awful.
A mandate would be acceptable if almost all of the other things were removed, and a strong public option (no restrictions, any citizen may buy in) existed.

27. All of the above, but doubly so number 1.
Without a mandate, at least I could continue to just ignore the National Joke that is healthcare in the US. With a mandate though, it's like having the government send Revenuers around to rub my nose in the horseshit that this bill's healthcare would remain- at gunpoint.

Mainly because it's the only one that makes things actively worse.
