I don't think they would just give a $5 million ticket to anyone who claimed it.

I'm sorry. I'm tired of thinking about the actual murders and am now simply engaging in literary criticism.

of suits and attendants come over and they punch in a bunch of codes (they need to check the slot's computer chip to see if it's legit or a malfunction) and for a jackpot that large they verify it with the manufacturer before paying you, generally in installments rather than a lump sum (but not always).

On edit, also, if a 17 yo claimed to win it they would say 'sorry, you're too young to gamble' (just like in the story) but to YOUR point, yeah, they could have checked the eye in the sky. As VA doesn't have any casinos, I think he's not really writing from experience.

2. Good point too
Of course, the most I've ever won is, like, $175 so I never had that problem.

6. Actually, the Borgata is pretty nice
It would definitely qualify as a middle-class Vegas hotel.

The rest of the place is a pit.
