Gun Control and the Effects of Prohibition
Do you think that, like prohibition of alcohol, prohibition of guns would cause the same kinds of problems?

1. My answer would be yes.
People who do own guns love their guns. You see how the NRA gets when anyone tries to even add gun control laws. Those people are not giving up their guns. It is a Second Amendment right, so, people would make their own guns if they were outlawed. That might not be the best idea.

2. Prohibition will not work
People that wanted a drink, got a drink.
People that want a gun, will get a gun.
Simple as that.

So is running liquor. Probably older than guns.
The reason I took out criminal,is because neither has always been so.

7. Red herring.
Alcohol is regulated and a certain segment of the population is forbidden to imbibe until they reach a certain age. Also, sellers of alcohol must have a license to do so. No one is trying to prohibit guns. We do want gun owners to be licensed just like car owners are licensed.

9. Yes, Cleita, regulation.
I should not have used the words "gun control." That is framing the issue in rightwing nutso terms, probably. But the rightwingers think that we liberals are for gun PROHIBITION. Maybe we can change the framing? Maybe we should?
